I came across this looking for something on MXAs website. It's the press release from when he extended his contract through 2016, this was in Jan 2013. Has there been anything since? Team manager deals aren't usually even big news but being that it's The Man it would be big news if he isn't going to be there full time.

Pretty sure he's in his 70s now. I love the guy but he's kinda jumping the shark a bit if I can use the term.

I think he's supposed to stick around until Dunge retires. Heard somewhere it was in Dunge's contract but who the hell knows.

I would think ktm would be throwing stacks of cash at him to stay after the success they've had after picking him up.

He could just sit there with beer in hand and anyone who's riding while he's watching will ride harder
He is the man for sure

My guess is that he will work there for as long as he wants. I mean look at the guy-he hasn't gained a pound since he retired and looks like he could get on a bike right now and haul ass. He has all of his faculties and is one of the most experienced and smartest dudes in mx history. No one will repeat his resume in this sport with everything he has accomplished and continues to accomplish.

Apparently DeCoster jumped a shark on his 1980 Honda MXGP-Winning bike earlier today, had a scary get off, but seems to be okay according to his Instagram.

The problem is , when most people stop working , keeping active or doing the thing they enjoy the most, life seems to go down hill quite quickly. I reckon the man knows that and wants to keep doing what he enjoys for as long as possible.
I hope we can see him involved for another 30 years!!!

Didn't one of his former riders drag him into a losing real estate plan in the mid 2000's?

Stacks of money are no good if you can't enjoy them. Dude has to retire and enjoy life at some point, but maybe Dungey's retirement would be the perfect time.

Look.......something shiny over there. Blink

This thread reads like a bunch of ADD kittens running around. Talk about no one knowing what anyone is talking about.

p.s. I still don't know what "jump the shark" means.

I hope Roger is able to continue jumping sharks for many years to come. The sport wouldn't be the same without him...shark jumping, that is.

No kidding. He's in better shape mentally and physically than the two 70 year old clowns trying be our next president.

DeCoster for president!*

*I do realize he wasn't born in the US, thus isn't eligible. But Hannah is.

"Jumping the shark" is an expression that means something may have peaked in value. Historically, it was a pejorative idiom used to describe a moment of television in which there is a gimmick or unlikely occurrence that is seen as a desperate attempt to keep viewers' interest.... Wikipedia.

Thats either the stinkiest bait ever chummed or you have zero clue what The Man has up in his noodle.

Do you even realize how much R&D knowledge that dude carrys around? He has personally had a front-row seat for the evolution of motocross bikes since the pudding-bowl days. Not only as a rider (and in his time, THE BEST rider on the gate) but also as a designer. Roger can run a lathe or end-mill as good as the best of 'em and fabs up trick SkunkWorks parts personally to bolt on and test. And you outta hear the lengths he goes through to quantify and measure what his fabrications do!

They could sit him up in a easy-chair in Bermuda shorts and a wife beater and be worth a salary just to hear his input on bike development alone. Having him as a team manager and rider mentor are only a cool bonus.
