If things were even both sides of the pond, should AMA or MXsports ban MXGeoff column?

Interesting...

Steve seems to know what's up behind the scenes and MXGeoff is doing one of his "polite character attacks" towards Steve for making it clear that, YES! Some of us DO prefer our Nationals to the Luongo "Racing for ONLY The Rich" series.

I'm kind of tired of his back-handed compliments and HIS soooooo obvious "Us versus Them" bullshit that he attempts to hide behind a parliamentarian's verse.

Dearest Geoff of Guiseppe,

Please stop spewing your shit. Even if it is nicely wrapped in the seething sweet verse of a wannabe editorial from The Guardian...its just old.

We're doing fine over here.
You'll see.
'Cause, we'll be coming your way in '18.

I think it's because in general Matthes is honest and gives his genuine opinion, where as Geoff's articles seem more like an ad campaign for GP's at times. I can see why people don't like Geoff, but he's doing what he's paid to do I guess

I'm Geoff's favorite person here. How could I not be , with all the praise I've given him over the years. Such a talented writer and diplomat. I don't know how the sport would even exist if it wasn't for his incredible talents. We should all strive to be just like him.

You don't? Either you haven't been here long enough , or you simply haven't read the stuff that guy has wrote. There has never been a more anti American MX scene " hater " than that guy....ever. The shitty part is he's paid to say it , which says a lot about the people paying him to write it.

I love this sport....world wide. And you couldn't pay me enough to spew the hatred towards other countries and other series the way he does.

He's a pawn and a shill.....and terrible for the sport in a whole. You can't see that....get new glasses. Because it's all right there in black and white , in everything he writes. Why do you think most of the guys on here , from across the pond even shun him?

Matthes is saying the race is crap because of the timing and riders being forced to go. Geoff is taking that to mean that Europe and the GPs are all crap too.. which is dumb. But I get why Geoff is doing it (page views and get us talking about).

What I think most of us like about Steve is that he speaks his mind - even when sometimes that gets in him trouble or blocked on Instagram by a rider. So if he thinks the race is crap, he should say it.

Why do MXGP fans in Europe always feel like the U.S. magazines should report more on their events? If there was enough demand for it, it would happen. I guarantee if the MXGP articles were very popular, there would be more of them. Don't see us complaining that Geoff isn't writing enough articles about how awesome AMA races are. It's a stupid argument.
I agree with you. I don't think some people understand that the majority of motocross fans in the US don't follow the GPs. And maybe the majority of motocross fans in Europe don't follow the racing over here. I don't know and, quite frankly, don't care one way or the other.

I don't see anything wrong with what Geoff wrote and I'm not sure why he was so defensive about what Matthes wrote, but it amazes me how easily manipulated some of you guys are. Ol' Geoff knows exactly what buttons to push to get you fucksticks to do just about any trick in the book! "Let's see, I'll just hit this button right here labeled 'passive-aggressive smack talk' and jeffro503 will do a 1 and 1/2 gainer, with a twist"!

Sure, Geoff is a Youthstream sock puppet, just as Jason Weigandt is a mouthpiece for MX Sports, although Geoff is a bit more blatant about it. I know this much: you will never read a negative word from either one about their respective employers. So what? Big deal, get over it. Use your big brains to filter what is relevant information and what is propaganda, it's not that hard and there are no consequences if you get it wrong.

Geoff is also not a polished writer, but then again, English is not his native language. I like Geoff, he's an amiable bloke and always seems to be working fairly hard whenever I run into him in the press tents. He must be doing something right, because his online magazine, MX Illustrated, has 60 pages of ads out of 110 total pages, mostly from American companies.

A little conversation I had with Geoff , right here at Vital....

Me : Why do you always route for every other country on earth to beat the American's at the MXoN's race?

Geoff : Because the GP's are a superior series and has superior riders.

Me : So in your eyes , you never want to see the American's do well there?

Geoff : Mate , I don't want to ever see the American team win....EVER!

Everything that guy says , has some sort of an anti American tone too it , and sometimes he just comes right out and says it. NO....I don't like the guy. Why would I like someone who blatantly hates my country and the people in it? Weather it's about this sport or not.....he's an asshole. Plain and simple. He's also an Aussie who abandoned their series and riders as well and jumped on the GP train. No wonder the Aussie's dis-owned that guy as well.

He doesn't make me upset in the least. I just can't stand the son of a bitch.

I've read way more anti GP stuff on here than I have read anti AMA.

I get a kick out of people saying the riders are being forced to go to the one off races. If the riders don't want to go why sign contracts with companies that are going to require them to go? Before they sign the contract it should be put in writing that they will not attend these one off races. They go to these races because their employer wants them to go.

The riders can always choose where and who they work for. Of course their options for high dollar rides may be limited if they truly don't want to race the one off races.

So much bullshit and idealism in one post.

Kongols I worked for one company for 15 years. The last couple of years I worked there I was truly not happy. I finally had enough and left. Working for a new company now for the last five years and am very happy. I look back now and wonder why it took me so long to leave.

I believe if you are truly not happy doing what your doing you are better of to leave and do something else even if it means taking less money or benefits.

I don't think any of the riders are that upset about having to do a one off race that they would leave their current employers for it. These guys make pretty good money for doing what they do and I'm sure they realize it.

I don't think any of the riders that are going to race these races are going to half ass it. They have too much pride for that.

At the end of the day I hope they all have a good time racing these events because in the long run the more racing there is the more opportunities there are for the racers to make more money. And us as fans get to enjoy watching!

Maybe my original post came off wrong. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I just don't see the riders being that upset about it. Maybe I'm wrong.

Okay. Not sure what you are getting at there.

It's sure would be nice to able to have a rational conversation without people resorting to this kind of nonsense response. If you want to discuss what I wrote please discuss.

As I said maybe it came across wrong. I wasn't trying to be rude.
