Brayton to Moto Concepts?

Was listening to the PulpMX show from last night - Sounds like Brayton and Moto Concepts are trying to work out a deal? I know Mike Alessi spent a lot of time training at ClubMX this past year, and Brayton is a regular there. I suppose that's how the the talks started..

That's been going around and there's probably some validity to it. Brayton has nowhere else to go...

Why is he out at BTO? I know he didn't have best season but he did top 5 once or twice in SX and was in top 10 most races.

He has been also extremely unlucky as if I remember well he was really close to podium twice this year. He is solid.

apparently he wants a sx only deal and mcr seems to have the best offer for him. js7 is rumored for mcr as well but brayton seems more likely. silly season is just nuts this year.

From this week's Observations:
"Want some silly season rumors? Okay, fine! It’s just crazy what you hear from people in the know. Word for a couple of weeks was that Justin Brayton to SmarTop/MotoConcepts is done and he’ll ride a Honda. But just the morning of this column someone called me and said that Brayton’s deal is not done and Mike Genova, owner of MCR, is going to get James Stewart. Which is SO a Genova thing to do, right? I could actually see this happening! In my mind, I think I’d bank on the Brayton thing happening and the Stewie thing being chalked up to a good rumor. But it would be so “Genova-ish” to sign Stew that it COULD happen.

If RCH comes back, I would think Broc Tickle would stay there, they like him, he likes them and he put in some good results. Perhaps Bogle goes there if his price does down a bit. Dean Wilson? No idea. And don’t forget that Malcolm Stewart is still looking for a ride. Wow. Lots of riders, so few spots."

Brayton is a done deal from what I was told, but I know that Genova wanted Malcolm last year and had a deal done until the last minute when Gieco stepped in, so Genova and the Stewarts are familiar with each other. I seriously doubt Stewy would agree to a low base with high bonus pay that Genova does and I doubt that Genova would pay what Stewy wants.

But honestly, knowing Genova, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

There's some more interesting stuff in that Observations thread than the Stewart info. That's the first time I've read that, but confirms some of the other stuff being thrown around lately. (Yosh involvement and which teams involved)

You have a good insight on the RCH deal, but there's definitely a possible twist that could end up being the biggest surprise of this year, if it ends up happening....... Shocked

Wilson has to be the biggest question at the moment, hopefully Mitch will step up and give him a 450 to ride and he can prove himself for his next ride. Because if that were to happen, I'm sure there's not much more than the bike/ support to be offered by Mitch. But who knows.... This could all change tomorrow. Crazy industry for sure.

I'm assuming the RCH deal and the Suzuki announcement for this Saturday go hand and hand ???

I would think so, but RCH hasn't signed with Suzuki yet as far as I know and they have a couple of riders that are hoping to be part of the team. Not sure how much will be revealed Saturday, seeming that they have a lot of things to be finalized before announcing much. (Speaking of RCH, not Suzuki in general)

I honestly know very little about Yosh and what their involvement is with the teams themselves, but the Observations thread seems pretty solid, IMO.

Couldn't a 3 rider team get along with stuff needed for 2? Obviously not parts but, 2 mechanics, 2 suspension guys and so on and be a better value? Especially with so many injures.

probably but I remember jgr saying that even though it is only one rider more, the logistics of a 3 rider team are quite a bit more difficult to handle.

Brayton is not a player. He has been on the best teams with lack luster results. There is better talent to be had.

Don't think having 2 mechanics to wrench on 3 bikes is really going to work, unless of course the team does like a fill in type JGR thing. Hardly enough time for these guys to get one bike ready for the next heat, semi, moto or whatever.

35 career top 5s in Supercross is nothing to sneeze at, including 10 of those being podium positions...

Is Phil Nicoletti in with JGR for sure? I thought pulp said he might go RCH? Or am I crazy?

Perfect world Brayton back to JGR, Phil to RCH, Stew to Moto Concepts with a big name sponsor.

I think Genova would work really well with James and his situation. There are some parallels between JS and Alessi. The freedom that Moto Concepts has with brands may work well for James as well.

I don't see RCH going away...they literally just won a championship. A big outside sponsor could be sold on that. The fact that they can produce championship grade equipment is something. They are in a really good spot. There are some really big fish out there for a great price and that price is only getting better. Best part is they are a graphics kit away from dropping a big name and sponsor onto a winning bike.. Why couldn't james jump on board? Big name like that could attract sponsors.

Damn, was hoping Brayton could land back at JGR and maybe transition into another roll after he retires from racing.

What's the latest news on RCH?

All this Kawi talk makes me think someone at Kawi isn't happy with PC lately.

To some extent I agree, but I also remember hearing that PC signed another long contract with Kawi?

Stewart to MC kind of raised my eyebrows since I hadn't heard that one...but, like you, the more I think about it the more it might be a really good deal for both of them. Genova has the money, and is either just crazy or passionate enough to have no problem throwing it around for his team. So, with somebody like Stewart who wants to do things his way...it might be a great deal. He could ride what he wants, and run what he wants on it. IMO, MC would be a GREAT place to land for both James & Mookie. And, didn't I hear that Alessi was retiring? I could so see James & Malcolm taking the place of Alessi & Friese.

I see Tickle staying with RCH, simply because he likes the team and Carey & Ricky like him. Carey has stood behind him through thick and thin, and he's a solid rider who is good for the team overall. What about Jake Weimer? He seemed to do well on the yellow bike, and appreciated the opportunity RCH gave him last year in SX. I hope they hook him up again, really. I'd be suprised if Soaring Eagle stays put...not to mention Jimmy John's, if they don't have a rider like Roczen on contract...and that could really hurt things financially. I don't know...

Brayton back to JGR to replace Peick makes sense. Brayton's wife is from that neck of the NC woods and he mentioned once in an interview that he really like to live there...much more than Cali.
