Much like riders, teams can have performance clauses too.With/if RCH lost KR Jimmy Johns could have a clause saying that if they do not have a championship contending rider they can pull their sponsorship.

oh come on of course JJ would of benefitted from the exposure via KR big time hence why (if indeed true) they are courting Honda, the OP says they are talking to Honda to sponsor the team not just KR.

Nothing against Kenny but from a pure business perspective, if I was Jimmy John's, I'd be trying to put a deal together with Usain Bolt instead of a dirt bike racer. Everybody knows who he is and he is Freaky Fast. That's jmo though.

I think ML may be onto something here. This theory was backed up by a solid source. It makes good business sense, if they plan on staying in the SX/MX game. I'd take JJ over any energy drink company as a team sponsor.

They are looking to sponsor the team not KR on his own....please read the OP carefully Smile

But in terms of sponsoring the team rather than Bolt....no way would they get near to the amount of money that Bolt would demand, plus Bolt does not do that many races a year (mind you even if he did no races he is still very popular)

I would say what ever deal JJ's do with either Honda or Kenny it would take at least one extra Zero, or maybe two extra Zero's at the end to get Bolt on board.

The best thing to come out of this is assumably with a 5 year contract and no team energy drink sponsor to force him to race US GPs etc, Kenny should now be available for Germany every year for a while...

As someone else mentioned.... Jimmy John's likely cannot afford Bolt. I'm sure it costs a fortune to endorse him. He's only one of the most popular and recognizable people in the sports world currently. Bolts yearly haul which primarily comes from endorsements if 30 million a year. Likely that will increase after this Olympics.

Why dont you ask JJ? I can only guess, that guess being that they see Honda as being successful next year, and they want on board with them, another guess is that RCH wont be around next year so they are after another team to sponsor and have picked Honda.

What "team" energy drink is forcing Ken Roczen to race the US GP's? I don't believe he is racing either one of them this year. RedBull is a personal sponsor for him and I can't believe that he's giving that up just because he's going to Honda.
