Liam Everts, gonna be big in MX or not?

Is he going to follow in the footsteps of his father & grandfather and be a major success at MX? How good is he or does he just ride for fun? I was expecting him to be riding the EMX65 series this year.

I think he's pretty handy to be fair, he did EMX65 last year I think and did okay. I always think 65's and even 85's are too young to decide who is going to be a star or not

Chances point to no. I'm sure he can be pro with all the support he has, but one of the "greats", probably not.

It would be very cool to see him follow in his father and grandfather's footsteps. The Everts family are awesome people... was lucky enough to be invited to their home in Belgium. Very cool experience to meet them and hang out for a day.

True. Look at Alessi/Villopoto and Anstie/Herlings.

he was going very well in the emx65 series this year, but broke his collerbone before the final round, tried to ride practice but still too sore,

they do not race 65's much in europe, he has a long way to go, but when your father and your grand father have been world champions, he has the right people around him,

This year Liam was also riding the EMX65 class. In the North West zone (European Championship) he won the overall but in the final race with all the best riders of all zones (last weekend In Loket, Czech Republic) he was injured and replaced by another Belgian rider. Normally he will race the World Junior Motocross Championships in Russia on 14th August.

Everything is pointing in the right direction for him support wise, talent wise he sure has a gift but its too soon to see if the gift he's given is enough to be the next generation of the everts legacy.

There's another son of a successful former gp rider also a belgium native a little younger than Liam is and has plenty off speed and style but as far is i know he's not racing yet.

IMO Liam will be a multi world champ , Stefan only started going big into riding around 12 years old . i expect the same for Liam

I like Stefan's attitude to his son's racing. He doesn't seem to push him hard for results or care about him winning anything at the moment, instead he would rather see him ride smart and use proper technique. I don't expect too much of him anytime soon but I think he will be very successul when he's older.

My opinion is the USA will see Liam Everts racing on your soil rather than Europe when he come of age. ( 16 yo is it)?

I'm not sure about factory rides but John Banks rode GPs as a factory BSA/Cheney/ccm rider in the 60s/70s, his son Mark was then a very good 500GP rider in the 80s/90s and John's grandson and Mark's nephew Elliot Banks Browne is a former mx2 GP racer and currently one of the top British Championship riders.
Not sure if all 3 had true factory rides though, John did and Mark rode for Honda UK, Elliot again has ridden for some high end UK teams.

You would think he (Liam Everts) probably would/ should make it to some level- how high, its difficult to say. I guess he will have all the backup and support to give it a shot if he chooses.
It seems to often follow that some kids of famous riders also end up being very good also but not always.
I guess injuries also can shape a riders career and success rate and play a major part.

Just how many great youth riders disappeared totally off the radar never ever to be seen again?! Some of them were virtually unbeatable back in the day, yet they never made it for whatever reasons. Others though went on to be Champions and they would get easily beaten by these kids that never made it! Its kind of interesting how good some kids were and how they never made it and the reasons why.
