Is Unlimited Sports even an AMA series?

I am going back quit a few years but.....I thought you had to join their org to race their races there for they do not have to do what the AMA says?

Guys with factory support will race in the classes the factory says to race in.

It's hard to be mad at Jesus when he has a puppy in his avatar. Everyone loves puppies.

How can a kid who got 2nd at LLs in B last year, won 5 titles at the Mini Os, and was advanced by the AMA's advancement list, still be riding B at the Winter AMs? Is he not 16 yet?
Thats not what I heard. I was told there has been a protest in the B classes at almost every round. Maybe I was told wrong?

And yes it actually is taking $ out of some kids pockets if they are paying contingency.

P, the only time you make a post about someone who isn't Black, is when you make a post about the arch-nemesis of your favorite Black rider!

It's all about race with you.

Just sayin!

I spoke to the AMA today, and they are stating that the problem will be solved by this weekend hopefully. They said all riders advanced will have to ride in the class advanced to. It is not only Malcolm, there are a number of riders doing this and it is not fair to the riders who are in B that are riding for cont. $$$. Most riders & parent (should) know that they will most likely be advanced at the end of season, that is just my opinion.

This is not about Stewart. It is about who runs the amateur motocross program and by what is happening in florida it is not the AMA. Good thing or bad thing? i have no idea.

Yes Malcolm should move up to the A class. Its not that bad , it would probably help him anyway. If he wants to be a prorider?

Based on what mxridermom215 posted it looks like they are changing the rules in the middle of the game. Sounds like the next race will be interesting.

"Yingling" - is this a Chinese kid? I don't see many Chinese riders out at the track.

Is MS going to ride factory Kawi against his brother at some point? Sounds like if he's winnning titles at 16 he could be ready for the show in a couple of years.

What I posted was not meant to be taken wrongly. I just posted what I was told. If my son was advanced to A, then he would ride A.,Regardless. It would only help him in the future. I am only saying, rules are rules. Also, what the other person stated is correct, you come in 2nd at LL, many championships, you know you are going to advance. It is common sence here, Thats all.

"Ying" and "Ling" are absolutely Chinese names.

Just asking.

If they allowed him to start the series as a legal B rider, he should be allowed to finish it that way.

We've had to move riders during a series, but only after it was discovered they started it illegally.

That is about the same as if you moved a kid off 50s who turned 9 in the middle of the series. Everyone knew he was about to age out.

Only in MX would we have a contraversy over a rider not going pro at 16.
1/15/2009 1:02pm
In reality, it is not about Stewart, It is about all riders advanced in general. Most riders race for cont. $$$. This helps pay for them to ride most of the time. if a person is advanced and does not move up, it takes that cont.$$$ away from other riders. If you know you will be advanced, then you ride that class. It is easy to find out if you pointed out and will be advanced. All you need to do is go onto AMA website and pull up your name in the MX result Link. It will give you your advancement points.

But,lets just say for instance, the people who are on the advancement list were not advanced, they would be talking about the same thing here. Rules, and how these kids need to move up.

I'm just saying, if you were to tell a kid he had to move up to pro at 16 because he had a good high school football year, you would be laughed at and told to fuck off. MX is the only sport I know where they force you to move up at 16 before you are even considered a legal adult by the courts.

Right or wrong, I don't understand their thinking and all the controversy that surrounds them for doing it. No doubt the kid is faster than $hit and belongs in the A class. He may or may not be B class legal for the last few weeks of '08, but if it's an '09 series, you'd think they'd run the class they'll run in '09.

Maybe contingency?

But how does a kid who rides an older (albeit not your run of the mill "older" bike) 250 two stroke collect contingency?

Maybe he's running thumpers now but regardless, why does the little brother of most likely the highest paid dude to throw a leg over a dirt scooter need a couple hundred Kawi bucks?

Just wonderin'

That's true. It does sound young when you step back and look at it. I guess we're just so used to things being this way. It is pretty insane when you think of schooling and how many things you learn in life during these years.
It has to be difficult for these kids that are traveling around the country, racing, maintaining family life, getting an education, and just growing up in general.

Maybe the people who feel a pro license should only be issued at 18 are on to something.

I'd like to know what the statistic is for how many riders are still competitive, past, say, 24. That would be only 6 years into their profession if they started at 18.

Sorry if I have gone off topic. haha
