Just wondering if anyone has looked up Eli's first five motos last year to Kennys first five this year to see just how close the lap times were as I thought I had seen it all with tomacs speed until his brutal season ending spill, but Roczen is absolutely crushing it this year and I certainly would love to see him go heads up with #243 from across the pond as he's got it covered over here right now!!

It wouldn't make a difference comparing year to year times.

Probably right, just wondering as they look similar in the way they were both hauling the mail attracting the tracks with insane speed!!

Whatever magic potion these guys are passing around, I'd say Eli had a little more than Kenny, or KRoc is trying to make it last an entire season...but now Tickle is into it, so who knows what will happen next.

True Dat!! I've been following nationals for many years and started following mxgp few years ago as well and must say that it's been a treat this year to watch both sides of pond and that # 461 and #243 would have immediate impact on any of our tracks IMO!! Would just love to see it as I know it's a pipe dream other than mxdn and possibly charlolette and glen Helen this year which who knows who will even show up!' All I know is we have some boys haulin ass right now!! Peace out'n

This season's Kenny would not have touched Tomac last season in the opening rounds, no one would have,

I hope Geyser wins the title for my own selfish reasons. Bring that confident fella over here and start him in the nationals in the 450's.

Tomac is fast this year, just not as fast as Kenny at the moment. But no one would have touched Tomac last season in the opening rounds and no one did.

If it will make you feel better, Hangtown Roczen was 5 sec. faster, GH Tomac was 5 sec faster and Colorado they were equal to .2 sec.

Funny you mention the eye test. My eyes said Tomac looked faster on TV yesterday. But everytime they would show the laptimes he was slower. Kroc looked like he was just finessing his way around the track. Tomac Looked more aggressive. The few moments they showed him I was like yeah he's on it! But he kept slipping back from Kroc. To me Tomac "looks" faster. Although I would like to hear someone's opinion who was there. Could have just been the different tv angles I caught.

Yeah I saw what you're saying. Tomac would just lay into some of those berms. Looked rad anyway lol

Don't know who's the fastest, but Roczen's the god damn cleanest.

You'll see Gajser late this year (Monster Energy Cup) and some early races in '17, but unless something changes, I wouldn't expect to see him all year round in '17.

I don't think we will see Gajsers full potential at the monster energy cup. I can't wait til he comes here for a full season.

Stefan Everts looked slower than everyone going faster than everyone, Roczen does the same,

Tomac always looks the same , if he is on the pace, or off it.

the only thing we can hope for is tomac at some point can return to his former self. I feel bad now Kenny had that one bad moto. I see him going 23-1 no problem now barring a mudder

Tomac vs Dungey's fast lap

2015:

Hangtown

Tomac: 205.571

Dungey: 210.921

Hangtown

Roczen: 202.776

Dungey 203.048

Tomac was usually 2+ a lap faster than Dungey in those opening rounds, whereas Roczen has not been that much fatser. When you break down the average lap times, the gap becomes more clear. At Hangtown, second moto, Dungey's average lap was 205.426 and Roczen's was 204.620 with similiar differences at Geln Helen as well. Tomac's average laptime at Hangtown was 209.621 and Dungey's was 215.830. So while it could be said that Tomac was running consistently 2+ seconds faster than Dungey in the opening rounds of 2015, the same cannot be said of Roczen. It is very clear that even if Roczen was 100% he would not have beat Tomac in those opening rounds. If Tomac ever regains that speed, he'll win. But Tomac will have top be 100% to beat Roczen, and it won't be easy.

Tomac speed was unbelievable last year... But he crashed and got hurt and hasn't been the same since, subsequently putting him waaay off the pace this year. Lap times aren't even a point to be arguing at this time.

Good point. Nobody has even raced with Roczen yet, and challenged for a win. He's in a class by himself so far this year.

last year Eli was 5-0 through 5 finished motos. Kenny is 11 for 12. both are impressive.

also, say what you want (settings/injuries/etc), but Kenny is straight up kicking Eli's ass this year, except for moto 2 at High Point. Tomac looked demoralized on the podium at Red Bud, to come from behind, pass, and beat you by 30 seconds, how are you not left wondering wtf just happened... i'm not saying he won't win this year, but i'd start the over under on his moto wins in the last 12 moto's right around 3.

Remember Dungey was still setting up a complete new bike last series vs a dialed bike this year.

Fact is, ET was the fastest last year, K-Roc this year. Problem was the Dunge won 3 from 3 championships.
