So, because Dungey, Canard, Seely, Grant & several other potential top runners have fallen by the wayside with injuries...will haters declare Ken Roczen should have an asterisk by his name if he wins the Outdoor championship this year like they did when Ryan Dungey won it in similar circumstances a couple years ago?

Just because someone said something dumb years ago, it doesn't mean you have remind them if it and provide them the opportunity to do it all over again.

Only if you put one Stewarts 08 season , where 2 and 3 were Ferry and Short.

Sorry, boss...didn't intend to step out of line. Delete this thread if you want to. No worries.

pro tip: go to an actual race and witness in person how fast Kenny is going and how easy he is making it look

I was at Redddddddddd Buddddddddddddd yesterday and right now he is on another planet. It's not that Eli isn't being Eli, Ken is just GONE!

I don't understand the logic. A championship win is a win. No matter who is or who isn't there. Someone has to win and someone has to lose.

Obviously no championship deserves an asterisk, but it's no secret Dungey had basically no competition to deal with in 2012 once Stewart got injured. There's still time for Tomac to step up and challenge Roczen for wins and I wouldn't bet against it happening.

So because a rider is so good, so prepared and he makes all the other best guys in the world or at least the U.S. look like lappers there should be an asterisk?

from what I witnessed yesterday I wouldn't be holding my breath on that challenge my friend

Either way, unless you want to compare Tomac to Alessi I wouldn't say the championships are under similar circumstances

Ok I'll take the bait... He was waxing everyone from the first gate drop anyway. The only negative of his leads is that he gets so little camera time. When the camera was on him yesterday it was awe inspiring to watch. His performance right now is RCesque ....not the way he looks on the bike of course but the way he drops the hammer at the start and demoralizes the rest of the field.

If a rider wins a championship and no one is there to challenge him, does he still win?

Solution , if more than 4 top 10 guys are out at any time. Stop the series and declare a draw. There are plenty of eating contests to put on the TV in the summer

The only difference it would make if the missing riders were there would be that Eli would have Dungey to race with, Ken is already into next week.

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder how many championships in the last 20 years would be asterisk free.

Ken might deserve an * by the end of the year that reads 24-0* (air shock failure)

Considering he easily handled those guys during the early rounds they were also racing, no.

It's not as if Roczen was finishing 2nd or 3rd then began winning after others were injured. That's where most of the historical asterisk talk comes from.

He just beat Tomac by 30 sec and Musquin by a minute and you want to put an asterisk on him ?

True, I was at muddy creek and it was just spectacular. He didn't look like he was riding hard at all.
