It was a legit move for a sunday , not for a quali race IMO , both on factory Yamaha, both going well, the risk of them both going down, wasnt worth the potential contact. Febvre didnt like it , i wouldnt have either, if it had been Gajser or AC , i would have had no issues, all going for the same championship.
All right ! Nothing else to add.

Febvre t-boned Gajser in a quali race in Germany. He thinks he's above everyone else, Guillod made no contact, didn't run him off the track, and he was legitimately going fast, he had every right to make that move, and he did. I wish more people would show some fight when Febvre passes them, he really doesn't seem to like it

All going for the championship? Its a race for position, championship is irrelevant at this point in the season, last round maybe.

He doesn't think he's above the rest at all. He's just been dominated by a rookie and wants to fight him in the proper manner. He lost his temper lately cause incidents happened with guys he doesn't get along with and he was afraid to lose the championship for other reasons than Gasjer just being better that's all, not need to call him out in every Febvre thread you enter.

There's a reason he doesn't get along with them, and it will probably come back to bite him in the end. If he just got on with it, no one would have a problem with him. If it comes down to the wire and he's looking for a favour who's he gonna turn to? He already made an enemy out of the the guys who ride the only other 2 yamahas that are near the front

I still admire him! it's not like I haven't had these kind of moments on track... problem is he has 40 camera's pointed at him to capture every moment. + he just seems like a nice kid haven't had any of these thingy's before at least not that I know of.

It was a racing incident. No big deal.

Guillod was racing hard on the final laps, for race position, on a track where gate pick is key. He stood febvre up just before the drop off, it was a little aggressive but racing is racing, doesn't matter which day it is.

Gajser is in Febvre's head and he's lashing out at anyone who's making it harder for him to beat Gajser. I'm a fan of everyone out there, Febvre too, which is why I don't like seeing one racer unnecessarily disrespect another...especially if he is the faster one.

I saw it from the first row, Guillod did nothing wrong, but Febvre is a little bit light headed due his world championship title from last year. So he acted like a real fool and dickhead. His middle finger wasn't the worst part, that he tried to park Guillod on that incredible steep uphill was RIDICULES! But after the race Guillod was "talking" to him and the people from the FIM/YS and Yves Demaria from KEMEA/Guillod (coach) were very fast at Febvre to also talk to him. If he's smart then he won't act like that again.

Not sure about the best friend assumption, but Ken is a great guy, but I wouldn't want him upset at me on the track

You guys are blowing this way out of proportion.

Maybe Febvre was just telling VG that he needed to shift up. You know, teammate advice and such.

Guillod is batshit crazy, so is Febvre and so is Ferrandis. The trio of them have pulled some of the most retarded stunts I've ever seen.

if i was a Yamaha boss, i would have a word with Guillod.
Febvre is the only shot at a championship for Yamaha.

This wouldn't happen at KTM.

I'm very disappointed in Febvres develeopment as a person. Last year all I heard was what a shy and humble person he is, doesn't look like that to me anymore. He seems to have issues with every other rider.

He did,
Its Gajser , the guy who he is racing for the championship, on a Honda.. not the guy on a bike from the same factory as you .

Guillod had just been passed by Febvre , who was obviously quicker, if he was 'legitimately fast ' Febvre wouldn't have got there.. or if Guillod had caught Febvre , then it was legitimate, but to run out the current champ , on the same bike, in a quali race that pays nothing, I think it was short sighted and uneccessary.

Of course he thinks he's above everyone else, he is , that's what winning last year gets you.

It's not about thinking he's better than everyone else, that's a separate thing, it's that he feels he has the right to do things that others don't. Like steal someone else's gate because he didn't like his, or pull aggressive moves, then have a problem when someone does the same to him. There was nothing wrong with Guillod's move at all, doesn't matter if it's a quali race or not. He may be World Champion, but if he wants respect, then he must show everyone else that same respect, he has to earn it. Cairoli has always given great respect to all his rivals and that's why no one has a problem with him despite the fact he's been dominant for so long. I know nobody's out there to make friends, but it doesn't hurt to have a few out there from time to time. You certainly don't want to be making enemies left right and centre like he is.

There were 3 riders who would've won the title ahead of Febvre last year if they hadn't got injured, which fair enough, to finish first, first you have to finish, but he didn't absolutely smoke everyone, so he's not above everyone else

so we can say Cairoli won his championships because all the others crashed?

Nobody stays fit, they all have problems during the season. It's the points that count at the end off the season.
Febvre was the best last season, even if Cairoli stayed on 2 wheels he wouldn't have won the championship.

Sure you could. Although there were not many/any situations, where Cairoli was 50 points behind 3 different riders and he's inherited the lead when they all crashed out in 3 weeks. He was nearly always leading the championship anyway when a rival got injured

Weird comments ! I think the bird was too much, that was a mistake, but not the moves. Yes he is still humble, he didnt change one bit, but he can win so he has much more pressure and 95% of the time he is coming from behind to catch Gajser which must be very frustating to see a title progressively slipping away like this. No doubt he is nervous now being in the title hunt but as the main outsider, not as the challenger, however he didnt change at all, he has often been agressive on the track, and the comment on Cairoli not being agressive too and not making ennemies made me laugh if we recall his first half of career. That is racing and also why TC is respected.

I also think it was the right time for Febvre to show his competition that if he was not respected he would take a front wheel. Out of 10 GPs (500 points distributed max.), 60 to 80% of the 24 points gap in the championship is coming from racing incidents with riders: 7-9 points with JVH, which should have been avoided, 6-10 points with Cairoli which here was a 100% incident. With Guillod I think it was a little incident that put oil on fire, being pushed by a "team mate". I think it is solved now, easily, no big deal, yamaha may have just clarified that a rider in championship contention has logically the priority. Racing hard is normal but there are implicit rules in racing, like when Musquin is not pushing Dungey off track or off the starts, like Grant or Pourcel are giving no fight to Tomac or Anderson, which is professionalism as it brings nowhere to fight a team mate especially when the 0.2sec you lose is gained back over the next laps by studying faster lines.

Small incident, put in perspective no need to start a crusade Smile

"Like steal someone else's gate because he didn't like his" stealing gate doesn't exist, period, this is what qualy is meant for. There's always a risk the gate you prepared will be taken by another rider who qualified better than you. Pourcel used to do this at every single race and still does when he does the pole. Jeremy's incident was purely personal, Cairoli did it to him the exact same day and he didn't over-react the way he did for Romain.

Good read. Wink

on the gate pick, part of interview with Febvre, seems like Febvre is not the only one to pick someone else his gate.

Febvre: I think my team-mate, what happened on the racing, its more about his place in the team, he wants to be number one in the team, and last year I took his place and this year again. I think its frustration and in one time, one minute before (they had a confrontation) Cairoli took his spot on the gate, so why do it to me, especially your team mate? I think it wasn’t like what happened on the gate, but the frustration and then he took me out as well, it’s bad, but Yamaha made some good decisions. Guillod, it was a qualification race and he almost took me out of the track. You win nothing from that in a qualification race. If its Sunday I don’t mind so much, but on Saturday, I was pissed off for sure. All I can do is win moto’s and GPs and it will be good for me and difficult for them to accept.

How can Pourcel steal someone else's gate when he is on pole?. Doesn't make sense as he would be first to the line able to go straight to his own prepared gate!Wink

He's like that guy in your group of friends who always dishes out insults and jokes to the others, but then falls out with everyone when people do it to him.

He used to do the exact same thing Antonio did to Jeremy before Romain in Italy. You pick a gate, let other riders do the job for you and then you thank them for their job but tell them they have to move. You don't need necessarily to do the pole, your direct opponent has to be behind you during qualy.
