What's eating Eli Tomac?

Starts like always. And something he's dealing with? on the podium.

Starts. He said suspension was a step forward this week. But starts.

As for the mood? He expects more.

Tomac's hype is way overrated. That's the problem. Yeah he has shown bursts of speed and badass Motos. All that means nothing without finishing the series. He's doing pretty good considering the two elites he has to deal Roczen and Dungey along with Anderson the majority of the time.

Sorry, man...been one of those days! I'm sure Eli has been a little frustrated with his season so far...especially after the hype generated by his speed last year, and the pressure I'm sure he's under as Kawie's star rider. Roczen's been on fire, and up until today...Dungey has been there too. He sure hasn't had anything handed to him.

But...today he rode pretty damn impressively. I think he's starting to click...
It's all good man. He's just my guy and it has been a rough year so far with some shining points but a lot of disappointment. I am sure the pressure is tremendous especially with Kawi being on top the past 4 straight years. I just hope he gets it straight before he gets too down in the dumps.

Tomac is my guy, so needless to say this season has been a huge disappointment thus far. But his lack of energy and enthusiasm on the podium is really bumming me out. What is his deal and what needs fixed that is holding him back?
Yeah, he did pass everyone in the class but Roczen today.

I think he is getting arm pump.

Horrible first motos. Finds his way up to the front then just hits a wall. Got passed late in the moto at HTown, same thing at GH. Finds his way up to Seely today and couldn't do anything.

AMart talked about this before. Pumps up in the first moto and then has zero issues in the second moto.

I mean I guess anything is possible but when I think of fitness I think of Dungey and Tomac. I would think he had that handled. Just hope he figures it out asap.

The only thing Roczen has that Tomac doesn't is a World championship. They're both 250 west champs and while Roczen does have the 450 outdoor title I believe it's just as much as an accomplishment as a 250 outdoor title which Eli has.

Hard to say he's "overrated", he's had two years with some injuries and one of them occurred while he was working everyone, including Roczen.

JMart suffered from it in the beginning of the motos last year and he is just as fit.

New bike, lots of time off, and he seems like he is fighting the bike a lot.

Obviously I dont know but it's all a recipe for arm pump. Especially when he seems to just hit a wall. He backs it down and just finished the moto.

Ok let me re phrase that then. To many higher expectations. Every one thought he would come out and dominate. It's not happening. Well he was working Roczen and Dungey l, but he didn't finish the series so get over it. I don't see it the same way 250 title is not the same as a 450 title in many aspects.

You think a 250 title and a 450 title are on equal footing? How many world and ama 250 champs are in the 450 class? How many are in the 250s? No , just no.

As hard as he hit the ground a year ago I bet that shoulder is still giving him problems. He probably fatigues easier because of it.

Him wanting to win will get passed all the setbacks. He will win again.

He did beat KRoc for that title, then Kenny won the 450 outdoor title the next year.

A 250 title and a 450 title side by side aren't the same, but let's look at those titles. In 2013, Tomac whooped Roczen's ass hard for the title. In 2014, Tomac was injured at the beginning of the year. Once he came back, he started alright but after destroying everyone at Millville, he was consistently better than Kenny.

Its not 2013 and they arent on 250s anymore . Kenny isnt learning AMA tracks, doesnt have a back injury and is the only one in this conversation that has proven he can beat Dungey for a title. Was there a point to this little trip down memory lane?

He had really good starts before he got injured last season but outside of that, his starts have been the biggest mystery in moto. I don't understand how one of the top guys continually get 20th + starts.

If you destroyed both shoulders like he did you may get a better understanding.

It takes well over a year to come back fully with just one severe shoulder surgery, and then you have to depend on the good shoulder to carry the load over jumps. I can't imagine what its like to have both shoulders feel like that.

He will come back, but his injury just takes time, no matter what the experts say.

Some revisionist history there too...

Eli won that title, but it wasn't a whooping. He was better, but only significantly so because of Millville for Kenny.

Yeah, I think a 250 outdoor title is just as difficult to win as a 450 outdoor title, their both national titles are they not? Same amount of races, the races are the same length, hell most of the time there's more competition in the 250 class. Only difference is the bikes themselves, and I'm sure some will say it's harder to ride a 250.

He's a fuckin WINNER!

Nothing else.

Some winners are capable of putting on smiley faces for their sponsors sake, but don't think for a minute Ryan Dungey didn't want to rip his locker door off as he was undressing, just as much as Eli did. He's making bank, podium bonuses are nice, but WINNERS aren't truely happy unless they are winning. Period.

There are quite a few 250 champs that never sniff a 450 title that would disagree. Baggett , Wilson, Tomac, Pastrana, Brown, Windham, and on and on. Tell the guys that had to race RC there was no difference, Stewart, Reed, Villopoto, Dungey. Its called the premiere class for a reason.

I don't know. From what I remember, all Eli did was hunt K-Roc down at the end of motos and then move past him. It seemed like Elijah had Kenneth mentally beat.
