To much hype for him from the get go. A Honda couldnt even save him with the talent that's out there right now.

The JGR HP is keeping thembalive

Yeah I said it earlier. I thought I was the only one that noticed he was struggling. JGR is getting their money's worth with Phil this season.

Agreed. The guy went from beating the field by 1.5 minutes to getting beat by Anderson. He is a front end steering rider and is always over the front of the bike. To me the front always looks loose. I don't think it's a rider issue, but more or a rider isn't gelling with the bike issue.

Barcia didn't have double shoulder surgery and switch teams and end up on a first generation bike Tomac did .... Barcia on the other hand is on a developed bike with no excuses for not performing. Just not getting it done.

I thought his second start was brilliant. The bike has some serious hp. He was in third almost second.

Seems that few people gel with the Yamaha 450. Just my observation/opinion.

When you come through the 250 ranks banging and crashing your competition and then hit the top 450 level knowing that won't work anymore, all you have left is talent.

Chad Reed seemed to do well in sx, Cooper did good, Fabvre seems to do good, Nicoletti, And sometimes Peick. I think just a personal opinion there was way to much hype for Barcia. He has his days where he shows great speed, but a few days here and there aren't enough in the big boy class. The fact is he's a top 10 contender and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

I kinda think it's interesting he was better on a 250 indoors and better on the 450 outdoors...

Like sitting down and revving the shit out of it worked indoors on a 250 where you needed that aggression–he always looked a bit better than Kenny who was smooth... but now on the big bike, the way Kenny rides is unreal, standing up, lugging the motor, picking lines... Eli picks the lines too but is somewhere between Justin and Kenny.

I said this in the other Barcia thread but maybe he needs to see a sports psychologist to improve his mental state. I read LeBron James does this, it helps.

there is only a handful of guys who can win. barcia is one of them. 1,2 wins per season will give any sponsor more publicity than a guy finishing 10th every race. sure there seems to be a problem right now but one can't deny what he is capable of if he is feeling it. I don't think it has anything to do with the team tho.

I think you are on the right track here Crush. So far Justin looks like he is trying to beat the track up with his bike, picking crap lines and just flicking the thing around way to much. He needs a rain race to calm his ass down and smooth him out like last year. I really hope he gets it together because it is fun to watch him run up front in contrast to the other fast guys because of his style. He needs to watch some RV video and pay close attention as to when you crack the thing wide open and why.

I think that is a little harsh but In some ways I agree with you. The second half of last year when he was up front consistently he seemed to throw the bike around less.

Agreed, I really think Buddy has helped Barcia with riding technique and of all things shifting. When Barcia was on it last year the guy looked amazing. He was smooth, and used lots of momentum. Right now it looks like he is trying too hard to find momentum by hammering the throttle and not flowing through turns. Then again, I am typing about Justin Barcia, while he is the one on the JGR Yamaha. One of my favorite riders, he will figure it out.

Maybe the words were wrong.

IMO Justin hasn't refined his technique enough to compete for the 10ths and 100ths of a second that are needed to make the transition into the open class top 3. He still reverts back to what he thought worked for him on a 250, that isn't going to cut it in 450.

That's what I see.

What I think is that he is just a 5-10 guy with the current group. He knows it, and it is F'ing with him.

His bike is fine.

Again I partially agree. 5-10 when he rides like he is at the moment, but we did witness him as consistent podium guy and winner last season. So I thing what really is F-ing with him is that he can run up front. It's all between his ears Smile

Could be totally off base here but my guess is that Justin is riding with an "undisclosed" injury. We all know he is far better than his results are indicating. Just my opinion.

I wonder if he has a small injury or something. Like it was mentioned before, he is not flowing around the track.
