What was the reason for coming into the SX season so unprepared(Bike setup to being so out of shape)? I would like to know the answer. I saw the writing on the wall at RBSR. He looked alittle soft and overweight. I mean seriously, you would think after having a year off, he would be over prepared. Being a fan, it's just real disappointing!

He was hurt all off-season, that's why he was out of shape and he couldn't stop crashing.

Off season injuries?? He was off for a year and a half...plenty of time to get ready. He has just lost his drive and now his talent is taking him places he can't control anymore.

Wait, what? His talent is taking him places where his talent can't save him? Is that what you're saying? That doesn't make any sense. Are you trying to say he can no longer handle the speed he is capable of going? That doesn't make any sense either.

Nope his talent is taking him where his physical ability can't go...

To answer your question instead of making up reasons for Stewarts issues: No "journalist" in this sport will bite the hand that feeds them. If there is even a chance of insult, then the question will not be asked.

Not that you can blame them, piss off one rider and his team manager and you have cut your access to 1/5 of the sport.

Yep. It's not the nfl where journalists can say damn near anything.

I also don't buy that a nutritionalist said gain weight. He didn't put on lean body mass. He looked kinda chunky if we're being honest.

He won at the Red Bull Straight Rhythm. While there he said that he'd played a lot of golf, and had put on some pounds. He looked at the suspension like it as actual time off...something he probably hasn't had a lot of in the last 15 years or so.

The week after that, he got hurt at the Monster Energy Cup.

He also got hurt at the Lille Supercross in France in mid-November.

I'd guess that he was going to do one of his usual pre-season training camps, but the injuries prevented him from doing that.

If you were a journalist my post could be seen as telling you how to do your job.

When I post about white balance and HTML then you may have a point.

Edit: And your personal attack verified my point in a way. If I respond in kind, I lose access to the only trafficked MX message board, so posters have to tiptoe around you. Just like the "journalists" tiptoe around the riders/teams. And I pit journalists in quotes because that is a vaunted profession and not a term that should be used for spots reporters.

actually the initial question is a dumb one, no way did Stewart come into this season thinking he was out of shape and unprepared.

ALL of his crashes this year were early in motos, so how does not being fit have anything to do with him getting hurt?

Stewart can ride 20 minute motos without blinking.

now if the question is "do you feel racing around all these guys and them being faster than you has been a distraction on the bike?"

I would buy that for a dollar!

Sometime in the past few months( A1 interviews?), James stated his goal was 'to be spectacular on the bike'. Maybe he was just offering up a sound bite, but with his ability, it seemes his goal should be titles.
I hope he gets past this year and finds his way to the podium battle, indoors and out.

I would imagine he's going to be out for an extended period of time, if not the rest of outdoors. Call it a day for the nationals and train your tail off for 2017 SX. Try to at least get a few wins and not let riding off on that mule be our lasting image of him. He deserves better than going out like that. One of the all time greats.

It's just crazy to me someone that once went 24-0 can't hardly finish a damn race anymore. Mentally something is broken. I just hope he can pull it together before he gets up to high in age.

Not that I need to justify myself to you, but you're in here bashing what I do, and telling everyone how you think stuff works. I think you fired the first shot.

Careful, if you hurt the vital management cartel's feelings you know what's coming They are witty geniuses with a capital J when dishing out the insults but pretty quick to press the banned button when the other guy gives it right back. Another words you can't win. Their way or the highway bro.

This whole thread and the original question was nothing but a "troll" thread. Why are any of us responding to this stupidness? You ought to be lucky GuyB even responded to anything you had to say. In fact I'm amazed Vital mgt. even allowed this thread to be posted.

It was not my intention to bash or attack any of this sports reporters. It was more a comment on the (apparent) state of the sport. The photo posted by newmann sums it up. And I even said "not that you can blame them". We have seen beloved internet reporters run out of this sport in the past.

And I hesitate to post this part because I failed to find the post, but maybe someone will remember:
I just spent an hour searching for a post made by you GuyB, in response to some topic (I would comment about the poor search functions here but... Tongue ) where you said that (paraphrasing): stupid posts here at vital had caused issues with a couple of riders (Stewart? Barcia?) and if I remember correctly you went on to say how important it was to maintain a good relationship with those riders and teams because access is so tightly controlled.

So, my opinion is based in part on that post, with you telling us how things work. Apologies that I couldn't find it for a link.

If something posted here by the filthy outsiders can cause you issues, I wonder what an out of bounds question could do? And again, that's not an attack on you, its a comment on the "good ole boy" nature of our sport.

How many people did RC blacklist? MXA, Matthes, others? And I love RC, he is a boss. But a single participant, especially the dominant rider for a decade, having that much control is not good for the whole.

Also, journalist vs sports reporter. Laughing Admittedly, that is my personal distinction and it is not meant as an attack on you or your comrades.
