I know nothing about the allegations that were thrown around and that's just hearsay as far as I'm concerned, but if he's not working with SSR anymore I can only assume things are getting worse. I can't help but think getting back to riding brought out those demons, maybe it's the people, old habits of when he used, I don't know, it's just sickening to see someone that is so talented to just piss it away.
I'm not an addict, but I've known several, some pulled it together and some are in the ground, harsh truth of the options.
Get well dude
Every addict has their "drug of choice" the one that flips the switch. to them it's the most addictive. Alcohol is a monster too. IMO worse opiates when full grown. Opiates will kill your ass deader than a doorknob.
Most of these judgmental, negative ass wipes don't realize Motocross is an addiction too---- releases the same chemicals as cocaine. Anyone ever spent money they didn't have to race?? anyone ever beg borrow and steal to get that new bike? new tires? sounds kinda like addict behavior. I spent 5 years addicted to extreme fitness.... worked out so hard eventually jacked my back so bad that I can barely get out of bed some days. MX is a helluva drug!! love that rush!!!

Lets see if I can explain...Motocross "addiction" does not...
1. Destroy your body & mind
2. Destroy your relationships
3. Completely trash your finances
4. Cause you to do criminal activity that you would never do if you weren't addicted
5. Alienate you from family, real friends & society as a whole
6. Put you in jeopardy of being arrested on a daily basis
7. Make you pretty much incapable of keeping a job
8. Puts you in close proximity with unsavory & dangerous people regularly
9, Kill you
To some...Nico for instance, Moto is his way back to sobriety. I give him huge props for being willing to come back from the brink.
I know the brink...I've been there.
Boom.
Yes, if you eliminate 4 +6 then i can say you find examples at every track in the country particularly that pesky little Loretta Lynn money racket. Those pitiful (i was one of them) bastards spend every dime, moment and energy to get to that God forsaken 100 degree hellhole every year. Biggest tourist trap in the Country - well done MX Sports!! lol
Divorces, financial ruin, pain and misery is the end result of a lot of those stories not to mention little Johnny Brotocross is hooked on pain pills from breaking 26 bones from 5-14 . I hate it but I love it.
As far as # 6 I started 2 companies from scratch in 2013 and both were making money in month 3 all the while snorting anywhere from 6-12 Oxycontin 30 mgs a day. They gave me Superman energy I was working 12-14 hours every day plus a hour and a half of Crossfit in the afternoons. I found opiate addiction made me very functional (non functional)
But when the pain clinic cuts you off you are FUCKED then. thats when you go to doing dumb shit to avoid that withdrawal.... feel like you got the flu- it's terrible

I'm not sure that we should be comparing an MX "addiction" to heroin addiction though.
I was trying not to post anything n response to the people that keep posting stupid responses. I'm not sure why some people feel the need to personally attack others on this site, over nonsense. I grew up with Heroine addicts as parents and my whole family had one addiction after another during my childhood. I have a lot of knowledge about addiction and alcoholism, but I don't feel the need to post about it on a motocross forum.
On another note... I have known Nico Izzy since he was on an 80. My son raced with Nico from the 7-11 85cc class thru the A class. They were team mates on the Suzuki amateur team in '06-'07, but were never very friendly with each other. Nico had the better ride and was faster than my son on any given day, but I still hope for Nico's sake, that he can pull it together, before it's too late. I've lost many family members and friends to addiction. Pulling for you Nico.....
Pit Row
I'm not saying he will or won't relapse. But as of a few days ago he was doing well.
Regardless, The guys at SRR are trying to provide help to people who may feel helpless and that's to be commended. Hopefully it all works out.
People are passionate about their addictions.
My sister is a nurse at a medical detox facility and rehab. She says Alcohol/Severe Benzo WD is the worst hands down period.
Opiates second, but the physical is only 7 days, mentally who knows.
Cocaine/Meth just cut em off. Give em counseling.
