I have heard from a few guys that ran both. They say the x30 was great, but then the 32 even better! Of course wear and what kind of dirt also play a big part.

The MX32 is a great tire, but wears out pretty quick, IMHO. I just put the x40 on my dual sport and not only are they wearing very well, they work great in the dirt. I put x30's on my RM250, but haven't ridden with them yet. I have read several posts that seem to have guys switching g over to the Bridgestones. The MX32 is a SOFT terrain tire, it works very well. I think the terrain range is broader with the x30's. They definitely last longer.

I've ran x20 and the rear wears fast. But it grips well, but it's heavy, but it was balanced- unlike the few dunlops I've had..I'm going back to Pirelli ms32 on the front.

I was riding with the Dunlop mx32 last year but my dealer convinced me to try the Pirelli mx32 and i can promise you that i'm not going back to the Dunlop.

The Bridgestone X30 is more like the Dunlop MX52. I prefer the Dunlop MX32.

X20 is comparable to mx32 but the centre knob is thinner by a fair bit, then the sides have more smaller knobs that are tie-barred. I've ridden a factory dunlop 32 on the rear and that was a fair bit better than the Indo made ones. Much more grip. That's why I don't run dunlops. They sell lesser product to the public

Yep, I hear ya..I don't like the fact that Dunlop sells a lesser tyre to the buying public. That extra grip the "pro tyre" has comes at the cost of faster wear.
How was the X20 front and how does it compare to the Dunlop MX32?

Nothing but MX32's on all our bikes. Yes they do wear out a little quicker than some harder tires but IMO they are worth it. A friend thats a former pro says told me the same thing. No matter if he is riding MX or GNCC he only runs the 32's! I just bought 6 fronts and 6 rears for our fleet. I would like to try a set of the new Pirellis!

Tire preferences are subjective but i have been on the Pirelli mx32 for my two races this season and i think that it's a better tire than the Dunlop MX32 when it comes to grip!

But i think i'm going to test the new Michelin, people seem to like it also!

I wasn't impressed by the bridgestones personally. I'm on the Michelin Starcross 5's now and I love them. I use the mediums and they seem to work well in all conditions and have amazing edge grip. They also wear like iron in my experience.

I ran some x30s that I got a deal in real soft conditions with some sand, and I was not impressed. I felt like they lost their edge after a few hours and significantly lost traction from it. I bet the x20s would have been a lot better for my conditions but even then the x30s wore really fast in my opinion. I haven't run mx32s but I would assume they would be very similar to x20s.

I've have extremely good luck with michelins and pirrelis, although I just ordered a Bridgestone M404 today to try.

I been running the mx 32 set this year and they really wore quick but work well. I accidently ordered the starcross5 in sand. I didnt realize there was hard, medium, soft and sand. I put the front tire on and it is so good. Really holds it's line in soft conditions. I have not put the rear in yet but it is a paddle style. I ride in pretty soft conditions so we will see.

I was all about the Dunlop 32s.

Then I tried the Pirelli's

They're more better-ish kinda sorta.

I'm from NJ as well. I ran the 403/404 combo a few years ago I liked them before trying the Dunlop MX32. The Dunlop is better everywhere. My 16 YZ250F came with the 403/404 and I was quickly reminded how much grip they lacked in comparison to the Dunlop. The 40 dollar rebate Dunlop had recently made buying a set a no brainer.

I may try a Dunlop for NJ terrain next time. I actually bought the 404 for rocky PA hare scrambles. Mainly because it was cheap, some people like them, and I ruin all tires pretty quick in the rocks. I use to run M14s for rocks but I have a 19" rear now so I had to make a change.

I'm running a s12 on the rear for sandy terrain right now. I raced a local hare scramble yesterday and even with 8-10 hours on that tire I was pulling the front up in sand! Its soft so the edges wear but it hasn't lost much grip. I have had tires that wore much worse.

For fronts I have run M59s for a few years now. They are great in soft/intermediate terrain and still great on slimy rocks in PA. They are not a hard terrain tire by any means and are probably the worst there and in real tacky/slimy type clay. The knobs don't clear as well as mud type fronts.

+1

I have the intermediate rear on my 250 and that thing works really good!

In the soft or the dry hard stuff when the track is beat. Great traction, the grip when laying your bike over is amazing.

I'm very impressed. The wear is also something I like over the MX32 and the 404.

I have not tried the starcross 5 front though.

I just mounted up a set of medium starcross 5's. So far very impressed, like others have said the lean grip is excellent.

I think I'm going to try the michelin starcross tires. Done a little research on them and it sounds like they are the best right now and people are saying they don't wear out as fast.

IRC VE-33 for rocky PA harescrambles. I've been using that tire out back for probably 10 years

X20 is similar to the Dunlop 32 in most ways, but I'd give the x20 the win as it transitions to the harder ground with better feel.

Anyone else think that the tyres with triangle shaped transition knobs that they have the better edge grip( starcross & Pirelli 32)?

Yes! Those little triangle edges really bite when its a tiny bit tacky. They don't seem to do as much in loamy terrain.

Anyone run an x40 front? I have one ride on an x40 rear I'm pretty happy with so far. I would run an x30 or equivalent up front, but the knobbies will crack before the tire is shot.

I used the x40 front, great in really hard terrain but it is dangerous in anything soft. It is a really good only hard soil tire

I think the mx32 is a really good tire overall. But.....I'm cheap and tend to turn my tires. This is a directional tire and you cant turn it. I was happy with the mx31's since they were a decent tire and could be turned....

I'm currently in search of the next best thing. I have a new soft terrain Starcross rear waiting to be installed - have heard many good reviews on them. Didnt care for the old soft terrain Starcross front though, but maybe theyve improved with their new design.

Because they don't have a pro-support team. Not their strategy.

anyone have issues with peeling the side nobs off of mx52 fronts? I like the tire it works well but when the side nobs peel it almost feels like I have a flat front. kinda sux because the rest of the tire is still in really good condition.
