Joey and I went to TV Land yesterday for the first round of the Pitbike Series. Joe was race one, I was race three. There were 5 kids in the Grom Class, all on 50cc trail bikes. In moto one, Joe was 4th going into the first turn, after the first lap he picked off a kid on a DRZ70 and was running third. He was slowly creeping up on second and got the white flag. He poured it on and passed a kid on a PW50 and took second. I was pretty proud of the little bugger, he looked really good on the bike.

Second Moto he was running third going into the first turn. Two turns later I see him stopped and figiting with his bike. He got going about 30 seconds later and was in last and quite a bit behind the pace. He really poured the coal to the fire as he passed two kids on the second lap and was running third. The boy leading was way out front but crashed. Joey went by him and was now second, next lap he caught the leader in his sites and went after him. Just before he took the white flag he ducked under the boy and made the pass. He took the checkered flag and through a big fist pump. He ended up getting his first moto win and his first overall.

The kid looked like a different boy out there, his style has improved and he was actually railing corners like a champ. After the race a bunch of kids that were watching came over to our truck and were asking him questions, Joey was one happy little kid. I think riding the KTM helped him, to him the TTR feels like a toy and he isn't afraid to pin it.

As for me, hopefully I did the Bailey bike some justice. I took fifth in the Vet Class out of 15 entries. I got a ton of compliments on the bike.

I'd have some idea who you're talking to or about before you shoot your mouth off there moto111. He's got a lot of friends on here and you're not making any.

Congrats Alph, I'm sure he had a great time.

No he told me that I had to get second or better like he did. No Mini Dad here, I still race, we are like teammates.

That's cool, enjoy riding with your boy while you can, it will make you 2 friends not a son & dad. When he will be older he will ask "remember when we raced at TV-Land?" and you both will have a big smile. Wink

30+ years from now he will get misty eyed looking at those pics and remembering his dad shared that with him.

Congrats to Joey!

Good job Alph and Joey. That type of racing sounds like a great idea especially for the kids.

Enjoy the early 50 days, those were and still are my favorite memories thus far.

I realize you know a lot about being a rider, but remember being a parent of a rider is a horse of a different color so to speak. Always let your rider guide your journey so it stays fun.

Congrats to the team!
