How does Craig Monty get to ride 30+b/c again? Didn't he finish 2nd o/a last year? I thought you got bumped up if you got Top 5 at LL?

This wasn't meant as a guessing game (someone did get it right thought)
It was meant to gauge your opinions on several issues;
A kid going from supermini to pros in about 13 months, and never even racing A.
The rider has never won any major titles or races (that I'm aware of) but is going into a OEM team.
This rider is obviously going to get some sort of special treatment in order to get his pro and SX licences and entries.

Well then he lucked out. Good for him. Be prepared to see it more and more often.

It is very easy to get a pro licence. As far as this goes it seems you are the one with the problem in this thread. Moto has always been about who you know.

The rider has never won any major titles or races (that I'm aware of) but is going into a OEM team.
This rider is obviously going to get some sort of special treatment in order to get his pro and SX licences and entries.[/quote:3g25oii0]

It is very easy to get a pro licence. As far as this goes it seems you are the one with the problem in this thread. Moto has always been about who you know.[/quote:3g25oii0]

Not a SX License

What makes you think I even care?
I was asked to see what folks thought about all this, so I did so
I don't care, because like said earlier, it's pretty much what Dungey did

However, I do not like the special treatment for licensing and entries...but that is across the board, not just this guy

special treatment because of who you know, is a way of life. The whole AM scene is a joke. I just posted a perfect example of a kid who was promoted by his local district to A, but is still racing B this season. There is also another kid on that very list that is staying B as well.

Obviously, Craig Monty knows the right people as well. No one cares about +30 B/C titles but after the Cozadd fiasco, you would think they wouldnt let a guy who finished 2nd O/A at LL last year stick around in the same class the following year.

Before LL's Zach Bell's dad was saying how well Christian had been riding. Hopefully he'll do well. Big jump from Supermini to B classes, and from there to Pro racing!
Definatley doesn't hurt to be the son of a former factory rider.

If a kid is fast, he's fast. Shouldn't matter the age of the kid, although putting a 15 yr. old in A/Pro an the national level could be a wake up call. But again, it should be gauged on speed. Maturity in racing is difficult to gauge. In this kid's case, he is without a doubt fast, but he's young. If he's 16 in time by pro rules then I see no problem with him going from Super Mini to B, to OEM satelite team in the Pro ranks. As we all know, Dungey did this and it has worked out favorable for him. And as was mentioned, it will be done again, as your phone call has pointed out to everybody. Of course the argument comes into play as there could be more deserving riders that some may feel deserve the Pro ride. But scouting and signing athletes is all subjective to the teams or individuals that have their reasons to be interested in certain athlete to begin with.

Is this a buying onto the team issue, Dave?
