And another Yami wouldn't restart after it missed a shift or bogged.

In all fairness, that bike went through one hell of a wreck before James tried to start it again. There are no guarantees any bike would have restarted after that.

I bet Larry Brooks was telling James after he crashed... "We'll get fuel injection for Phoenix!"

James looked PISSED after his heat race. I don't think the YZF is set up right for him yet; he just doesn't look comfortable on it. Reed looked good, really good; it's hard to tell if he's upped his game or if James isn't all together yet - or a combination of the two. James doesn't usually have two terrible weekends in a row...unless he rang his bell enough to have to sit out.

James resigned with Kawi in '06 with no 4-stroke and switches to Yamaha with no EFI...hmm.

One thing James has struggled with at times was setup for rough and/or slick SX tracks. He looks like he's chasing the front end all the time.

You’re right about the no guarantee, but Reed didn’t have too hard of a time with starting the fuel injected RMZ.

Seems someone made a point of the Yammers front end problems on another thread.

But James did it on the Kawis, too, it seemed like to me. Maybe it's his famously rigid fork setup.

EFI-free Yamaha?? BIKE SET UP???

Knocking into neutral is synonyms with breaking in a new pair of unfamiliar, ugly boots. Laughing

Looking more like the Reed of 2008, sorry to say

I'll tell you this much regarding his super stiff front fork setup we were sitting in fron of the whoops and when they did the parade lap before the main I noticed his forks did not move at all it seemed compared to the rest of the field it really was a noticeable difference

Yamahas don't turn. Never have. You have to bounce 'em off of stuff.

Yamahas shift like a lawn tractor if the oil gets the least bit contaminated.

Their most competitive feature is that Yamahas seek out and knock down riders on yellow, red and green bikes. Especially red ones. Ask KW.

Maybe somebody shoulda told James some of this before he switched.

(And I ride a Yamaha.)

Just sayin....

I am sure the race bike is good. The problem is JS, RC and CR can take those bikes to 110% of the ability of the bike. I think of all the brands the Yamaha 4stroke is the worst one to be on when pushing the bike past its limit. I bet this is what Reed always meant about it.

For what it's worth, the YZ250 two stroke was probably the best two stroke to push past the limit.

How will he get EFI when the production bike isn't? I think there is a rule against that.
