FCR. Tell bob in east Liverpool Porgie sent you. He will hook you up. Guaranteed. Parts made in-house on the CNC Machines. The stuff works. Not discounting anyone else, just giving you a fair endorsement of a company I've used since the 90s when he was out of his tiny garage. He's come a long way from that garage to building a franchise shop that focuses on quality. Bob Luketic has put the American Dream to work.
Where to begin... I used this company in 2011, They offered a good deal at the time (military discount). I sent my stuff off when my riding season ended in mid December. I did not get my stuff back until march 2012. I did not think much of it at the time. Got the stuff on my bike and my bike was fantastic. I had nothing but good things to say about this company at that time.. the work they did was really good. this was a 09 YZ250F
In Dec 2012 I sent my head to them for port & polish new valves all that stuff. I did not receive it back until April 2013. 4 months for head work. Bob's Excuse was their email servers were changed and stuff was messed up. So it was just another shipping issue to me. nothing wrong with work quality.. wish I stopped doing business with them at that time.
This is when the big problems started. I sent my suspension to them again for my 2014 YZ450F in feb 2014 . They were to re-spring, re-valve, change internals out with their "works parts" They were going to hook my stuff up again like my '09. The one thing I asked for specifically was Blue FCR stickers. (I know stickers big deal)
I get an email back March 5 from bob asking my weight and cc info. I also asked him what they were doing to my stuff his reply "Everything man. I need your billing zip code. Works pistons. Spring seats. Pressure springs. Main springs. Sub valve mods. Shock piston. Shock base plate. Shock bleed jet. Etc etc."
I did not hear anything back from him about sending my stuff. so I asked about it 2 April. his reply. "Hey mark. Sorry man we've Been busy as &%$#@!. Ill check and see if they shipped it. I was waiting for those blue decals for ya. They may have came and they put them on and shipped. Ill find out when I go in buddy" I was also told them broke something internal on my forks and were waiting on new parts, and also they were busy at nationals.
So I finally received my stuff 10 May. About 3 months turn around time. first thing I saw when I opened the box was big ass YELLOW FCR stickers, the one item I asked not to have and what they told me was holding up the shipping. The forks and shock still had dirt on them from when I shipped them and I am 99% positive the rear shock spring was not changed out. Still had the Yamaha OEM blue spring. The shock spring on my 09 said FCR on it. No OEM parts were shipped back to me, so I am convinced they never did anything to my stuff and basically took my money.
when I rode my bike the suspension was softer than it was stock. My bike was bottoming out over little doubles and riding like shit. To this day I still do not know exactly what they did if anything. I ended up buying new fork and shock springs for my weight and had them put on by a local mechanic. Needless to say the bike felt 10x better. When I questioned them on the work this was the response. Guy named Matt.
"Hey brother, I looked into this situation. Bob was completely unaware this happened. He is going to message you and take this over personally. We did have a recent shitbag working for us for a few months and he was terminated for lack of work ethic. I’m not completely dismissing any of this on him but we want to fix the situation and make you more than happy with the service you paid for! As I said before Bob will be messaging you if you don’t hear from him 24hrs please let me know. He again wants to get you taken care of personally!
Thanks for your patience!"
The pic I added showed how far down my shock was when setting my sag after they "resprung" it for my weight. They ended up sending me a new shock spring but it was worse. That's when I gave up with them and took my loss. Stopped asking them what their deal was. They asked if I wanted to be on their "military appreciation page" haha man I really hope they are out of business.
My advice is do not speak to these guys again or give them business of any kind.. go find a real company with good reviews and solid reputation. I still never got an invoice for the work "they did". I gave up and took it as a loss.. I did not want to spend another $100+ is shipping and take the chance of being screwed over again and not having my stuff back for another 3 months.
Guy I ride with also got dicked around by these clowns on taking forever to ship and also had to change his springs out as well.
Got my suspension taken care of in Japan by Technix which is a sister company of MX-Tech.. Night and day difference. worth every penny..
you may very well have excellent service from them, I just wanted to share my experience.
Pit Row
I had a bit of trouble getting my crf450 air forks to work at all stock, after getting them done by Bob they were some of the best forks i've used. He gets my highest regards.....not that it means much.
I have raced most my life but never had my suspension made for me. Moved to Japan, bought a new bike and was asking around on where I should send it. Drenmaster and other riders in the local area swore by FCR works suspension and at one point it was really good, maybe it is now idk. So we shipped our stuff out at roughly same time to get the badassery that was their previous work. $1200 later or so for all works and trick parts/ springs for my weight etc etc. And about 4 months or so later I received it back. Very few OEM shock parts were returned. but what blew my mind was for a FACT my stock rear spring was still on. I know this because I had paint missing on the lower part of it. No doubt my stock spring.
I am 240 dry. Pretty sure that is not recommended spring weight for me...
I got the same run around on shipping. But mine was and I'm paraphrasing "It is at the post office but they couldn't ship it because the box was damaged." Not sure if it arrived at local post office bad or damaged while putting on the shelf? Or if it was just an excuse because they hadn't even touched my suspension at that point. 1.5 months later i received them back.
Installed on bike and the feel was way more smooth and not "rough" if you will. so what ever the valving they did seemed to help. But I still had to increase my compression quite a bit. But exactly like Drenmaster, I had to crank down my spring to get same sag I had before I sent it out. (shouldn't be the opposite if my spring was changed?)
Moving on..
I also had my head port and polished and valves done, looked pretty, started right up. But about a month of riding went by and I had noticeable blue smoke coming out of my 250F. Valve oil seal was the culprit. There was a rubber seals installed on my intake side and not the metal OEM ones. Could have been there before I sent it out as I hadn't got that far into motor at this point. Just saying.
So I ordered race tech springs for forks and a diverse spring for back and bike is way better. NOTE: the local mechanic confirmed front spring was stock.
Long story long.. I would not personally recommend sending your stuff to get serviced there unless maybe you live 10 minutes away or own a high profile instagram account. (maybe some of you will know what I'm talking about)
I always like to support the local shops before sending stuff to MB1 or RG3 but in the future this is the route I will be taking. Sorry Bob its nothing personal, maybe the service is better now. But my experience was not the greatest by far. Others might have had or will have better luck but that ruined it for me and I will not use their business in the future. Hopefully this helps people make a decision. Thanks
