I don't know about the tough guys in here but I made a lot of mistakes in life as well. Especially when I was young.
Pit Row
Everyone has a different perspective on things like this. I remember when Danny Hamel was killed in Mexico, I read a column (newspaper, real paper!) that basically questioned why he was doing something so stupid in the first place. Obviously this writer had no interest in this type of racing and basically said that Hamel got what he deserved. I disagree with that sentiment, obviously, but it just illustrates how our perspectives can skew our views so much.
I hope no one in the other car is seriously injured and that his family finds a way to accept their loss.
is my explanation. The NFL player deal is an exception (kongols was being sarcastic BTW not racist) but the wheelie boys aren't entitled to ANY sympathy IMO.
Jimmy Sloan is welcome to feel how he wants to but I have no sympathy for law breakers that put MX in a bad light. And I am very compassionate/empathetic but it doesn't extend to wheelie boy types or anyone breaking the law while endangering themselves but more importantly others IE the quad rider that crossed into oncoming traffic.
I'm sorry the rising NFL star lost his life. Put a helmet on ALWAYS peeps!
Nothing about this tarnishes the sport of motocross, any more than some guy getting liquored up and driving his car into oncoming traffic tarnishes auto racing.
Something tells me that you love the old stories of the racers trashing rental cars, jumping them on tracks, delivering them back to the rental agencies with bent frames, etc. It's classic folklore for the sport, yet incidents like that cast a poorer light on motocross than this incident will.
A young man made a stupid, terrible mistake. He's paid the ultimate price for that mistake, and it's unfortunate that the price was this steep.
If you don't think the wheelie boyz don't put MX in a bad light then that says it all.
