Just wondering what you guys think this is worth... Fun build and nice to meet RJ. Nice guy and good sense of humor. Still looking for a PC pipe... Runs great, this thing rips, HPP is awesome. I would love to race it but can't justify it being that it's in near show quality...

also a video at the very bottom.

It is show quality.
Just race it. It can be fixed again.
If you had a beautiful girl would you not poke her and get her dirty? No youd use her like she was created for and wash the filth away for the next time

Beautiful build! Great to see other people keeping history alive too. Young guys who didn't grow up on two strokes should try one out instead of listening to all of the haters. Max Power, you cracked me up with that comparison! The difference is that you can tear one up, and it goes back to pristine condition on its own... They're also making more of them every day, an inexhaustible supply of them pretty much. These bikes in this condition are few and far between. I probably wouldn't take it out much either, to be honest...

I've said it before. Why save it? So your kids can fight over the 1000.00 they get for it on EBay after you're dead? Ride the damn thing.

Thanks. I think history is important. I was 2 years old when RJ won the supercross title in 86...

And why wouldn't I save it? I'm not going to trash it at the track and have to start form the beginning, I may as well flush all my time and money...

Words to follow. I have restored a few bikes (garage queens) that I have managed to keep over the years.

My latest is my second bike ever, a 1969 Indian Boy Racer. Get tons of $$ wrapped up in them, and in the back of my mind, I know nobody in the family wants to be burdened with all of that crap.

They will probably be given away when I'm gone.

I gotcha Max, you do have a point... I'm only in my 30's so hopefully have a little time left one the earth to enjoy it! I just prefer to tear up a "dime a dozen" bike, plus it's almost impossible to find anywhere to ride around here anymore anyway... Haven't ridden in the dirt for a long time, but hoping to resume sometime soon... May be out of state, but damn I miss it!!

Project racer, that's some nice work too. I know a lot of work went into that! Yeah, most kids, or even adults don't appreciate this stuff. Just junk to most of them.. Make a will, donate to a bike museum or something so it doesn't become a yard sale item when you're gone! We'd be rolling over in our graves if we saw some 13 year old kid break out some flat black spray paint, stupid stickers, and go mud bogging with his ATV buddies, lol.

Awesome restore Bimotofab! As a fellow '86 CR250 owner, I can't help but get a little excited when I see one of these mid 80's CR's brought back to life again! Top notch work, and love the conversion to disc brake on the rear. I understand your dilemma of "to race or not to race", as I too had that same decision to make when I purchased my '86 that was about 90% restored at the time. I bought it with full intention of riding it periodically, and for racing a few select vintage events yearly....but when I got it home and started looking at how perfect it was, I started having second thoughts. After a few months of pondering, I changed my mind and got it ready to ride. I must say, I haven't had this much fun riding a dirt bike in a long time! The cool thing beyond riding a bad ass bike from 80's, is how it becomes a conversation piece from where ever you go to ride. I really enjoy when people come over and check it out, and then start sharing stories about "back-in-the-day"! No matter what you decide to do, thank you for sharing your piece of moto history!
