I noticed a couple BS parts to his interview! He said BT went to meet with him to apologize? I just do not see that! No way a rider gets called into a meeting and then it is all about the rider saying he is sorry for dissing a track!

Our riders here often say bad things about tracks. They do not go and apologize for their comments. This was simply his way of trying to say this is his place and you either give him respect or get out. The comments about RD5 is a little off also.

Not a bad interview, my only gripe really was that he said the MXGP race at Charlotte pitching the worlds best MXGP riders against the US SX riders, thats doing the riders in America injustice to their skills on a MX track (regardless of previous MXDoN results, which are one off races not a series).

I do agree that US media coverage (and fans) in US dont give credit to MXGP.

On the mx vice interview ben didnt mention anything about having a meeting with luongo and apologizing, so its probably BS coming from luongo. Would be cool to see thailand off the schedule for 2017 the place is a shithole and way to hot for the safety of the riders. Good to see the riders will have input on the tracks making it safer and better racing conditions.

Nice interview,good questions asked.

I do agree on the quality over quantity comment by Luongo. There is just a few problems with that at the moment. There are so many guys in Europe that are more than good enough to race in the GPs but only can afford the European rounds or no rounds at all.

The interview was good. Good clear cut questions and pretty good answers although anyone with some kind of reading comprehension would understand that BT probably never apologized and that is fine!

...but after a lot of hard work the NZ government denied their backing, and without the government’s financial support it is impossible to take MXGP there as the travel and freight expenses are too high making it impossible to cover these costs...

If travel and freight is such a concern, why go from Argentina to Mexico and then back to Europe instead of hitting Glen Helen and Charlotte first. I understand US riders are busy on those weekends but the travel/schedule seems a bit haywire and could be rearranged to make it more affordable for everyone involved.

On Dungey, I'm bummed. I was hoping that when he said "There's a lot more I wanna do" it included MXGP. That would be awesome and different. No such luck...

Why is it Luongo is far more hated then Coombs? I honestly don't see much difference in the two other then Davey posts here and therefore gets the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not saying either is doing anything wrong or right..

hes being economical with the truth a bit, the travel part is only part of the budget, youthstreams fee is also another big part,

Good point, you could also argue that having a round in Australia and New Zealand might make it more cost effective.

How about you show what you think makes them the same. The only thing Luongo and Davey have in common is that they're both presidents of motocross promotions, and that's where the similarities end.

As long as they don't pay the riders any money for starts or wins, Louongo will rightfully be seen as a swindling piece of shit who has destroyed the prestige of GP motocross. I wish a rich billionaire would be a fan of moto and buy it from luonog and srb.

Davey Has raced at Loretta Lynns and Gotten top 10 in 125A,250A, and 25 plus. Thats a big accomplishment for any racer. He is not just a promoter, but a huge fan of mx. He has gotten to where he is, by starting a little district mx newspaper.

DC doesn't only listen to the riders , he listens to the fans as well. He has taken criticism from this board and made improvements. He also is one of the first guys in the morning to hit the track and help prep it for the races. He's not only hands on , he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

If you think DC and GL are anything a like at all , you haven't been paying attention.

You can't really compare him with DC but you could compare youthstream to feld. The difference being that Luongo does front up and he's the bad guy everyone dislikes. To me, Feld is a faceless organisation and I couldn't tell you anyone who works there but they are probably very similar to youthstream without the propaganda.

I thought DC is hands on, because they are losing so much money they can't afford people to be paid flaggers and workers?

I may be wrong tho!

MXGP is bankin because they have tapped into the governments marketing budgets for the country, pretty smart! It's pretty rare to get the U.S. To kick in cash.

Texas on the other hand his seriously helping out the F1 effort in Austin with cash and support

To me, their differences are pretty much everything beyond their one similarity.

DC is a moto fan who, to me, seems to genuinely want to progress the sport. Luongo is more like a politician who only seems to care about cementing his own legacy.

You Moto guys crack me up. If you would take your helmet off and your moto goggles off long enough to see reality in the two thousands you realize that Luongo is far ahead of the back ass ward way of US moto. He has the ability to see and do things with the future in mind. He isn't interested in the minimal revenue that a bunch of non competitive 30 to 40 place guys with inferior equipment, bring to the table.

What he is interested in is creating a platform via MXGP that countries, outside advertisers and other money people are interested in being involved in by having the best 20 guys on the gate keeping racing respectable and close, in addition to quality financed and organised teams backing those riders, at venues that have a very high end feeling with hospitality tents, catered food and an ambiance that shames the dirt fest put on in America.

He understands what it takes to create an environment and a race structure for riders who are trying to grow to the next level, and ultimately a series that's based on a real business model of marketing and advertising to multiple countries and hundreds of millions of viewers.

Those of you who think that the lack of prize money really equals anything to the riders or teams, let me help you with some reality. The prize money in USMX for a 450 rider finishing top ten for the week, won't cover much more than hotel and food for the guy that week. So if you think a 20 place guy in US makes the money a 20 MXGP guy makes, your confused, and it's Luongo who makes sure that happens.

Please know I'm as American as they come but whether we are American or not we have to live in reality and give credit where it's due.

Totally agree. Almost seems like a snub to have them where they don't draw a crowd but deny them where they would. Talk about bad economics...

I know the organizers are probably busy so I'll just go ahead and handle the schedule for them for next year. I'll add a couple rounds and leave/slightly change venues for most of the existing ones (though I am dropping one Italy and one Netherlands round because they each have 2 right next door to each other) :

1. Argentina
2. New Zealand
3. Australia
4. Malaysia
5. Thailand
6. Qatar
7. TBA (Lotsa flyover space here... Anybody? Israel? Ukraine? Russia? Finland?
8. Latvia
9. Czech Republic
10. Belgium
11. Switzerland
12. Germany
13. Italy
14. France
15. Netherlands
16. Great Britain
17. Mexico
18. USA (Glen Helen)
19. USA (Washougal) Woohoo
20. USA (Unadilla)

Yeah, I'm sure you are right. It's just the throngs of people (including a lot of Europeans) who think he is a corrupt crook who has an incestuous relationship with the FIM who are wrong. You and MX Geork are right. I can't wait until we reach that "next level." It will be wonderful to see.

Bravo

he maybe trying to get to there, buts hes a long way off, the riders were out of easy ups and shipping containers in thailand, and it looks like indo next year will not be any better,

Loungo might be trying to get an F1 model, but that model aint working that well either, wiht the difference between the haves and have nots growing every year, and the racing getting worse
