I'll admit I didn't see it happening. I thought he'd struggle to finish in the top 10. He's making the youngsters look silly.

If it weren't for stupid mistakes they wouldn't have caught him.

Nonsense. Tomac was a second behind Reed on lap 8. Reed opened the gap back to 3.5 or so and it was Reed who made mistakes allowing ET and KR to close, ten laps later. And Roczen had lost the back of Tomac when ET crashed.

Does he need to race? He does it for the love of the sport and his record shows. It appears Michael craig is having the same feelings.

No way I thought that, especially after switching bikes and shuddering his team.

I expect a Win before the series leaves California if he's on.

I expected mid pack if he was off................

I'm retired and live within 10 miles of the factory test tracks in Corona. I'm able to ride my MX bike from my garage all the way to the SX tracks and frequently watch all the factory guys practice. It's rare to see any one rider put in more then a couple of hot laps before they stop for an adjustment or to consult. Sometimes all you'll see is a few sections being attacked before they pull in.

Maybe it's the Yamaha test track, but every once and awhile I'll see Reed do something unbelievable. I mean jaw dropping, shake your head in disbelief kind of thing. The guy has guts and skill that's for sure.

Reading all of this, the only thing I can think of is.. 3 races in, Dungey is already 13 points up. Reed looks tits on that Yamaha, and I want some more good starts out of him, but it will take an injury for anybody else to have a glimpse at the championship. Dungey has proven he doesn't get hurt, it makes it easy to predict the season.

Anyway, back to Reed, get some more good starts and keep charging! It would be nice to see a few wins this year. There is nothing we love more than seeing Reed put on a charge for a win! His win last year was badass.

Bro, this is The Chad we are talking about. He has been VERY consistent on finishing seasons in his career.

I had called Chad for a podium or two, but certainly not sitting second on points (or two seconds in a row!)

And since we are being honest here..I had McDonalds for lunch today (Big Mac combo) and I feel dirty because of it. Haven't touched that crap in ages and for some reason I was sucked into the vortex.

I had hoped he would do this well, but probably didn't expect this much this early.

People go on about Kevin Windham being the bridesmaid, Chad is only a total of 17 points from another 4 SX Titles

I had him on the podium for San Diego, but didn't think he would be top 5 in points by now. If he can continue to get good starts and avoid the DNs, it will be a fantastic year for him. He's riding great and looks comfortable on the YZ.

I think he is still lacking speed over dungey, anderson, roczen, seely and tomac but so far his starts were good and he deservingly finished on the box. I don't expect him to finish the season infront of any of those guys I mentioned tho.

Anyone with half a brain and watched the Aussis SX would have seen he was on fire and had a lot to bring this year, I mean how do we rate Webb people are talking the next Carmichael!!! Reed was faster then Webb that weekend!

I thought he'd be somewhere around 6th-10th early while everyone was relatively healthy and would eventually compete regularly for top 5s and a podium or three if he stayed healthy himself.

His performances so far have definitely surprised me. He's obviously put in a lot of work to earn them.

Some of us "half brains" figured Reed was fired up because of his new ride with factory Yamaha & the fact that he was
racing in his native country also was "moto-vation"...Cool

Also figure Webb wasn't going 100% to risk getting hurt right before the season & I still do... He didn't want none...
By want none, I mean an Adam C overseas injury...

Laughing I was going to say something similar to Steadman but it was going to go back to SX earlier on in his career when he hardly missed a race, a main or a podium. Pre-funk, kind of like that Windham funk that he also came back from to impress us all. But alas, I was pointed the door and told there are no similarities between Reed and Windham. They probably aren't even both over 30 either and on the backside of their careers.Dry

Oh, and people used to say "stick a fork in Windham, he's done". I might have even joined in on that a small bit throughout his high dollar base contract Suzuki days.

You are supposing that reed doesn't get hurt........His skill and therefore overconfidence in the whoops will come back to bite him again........I would say if dungey gets hurt, its anderson or seely's title.
