Thoughts? Keep in mind that it is a man made. It will never be as good as a natural track.

Should be an interesting race. Looks like what Monster Cup was meant to be.

Who's building it?

Does this race fall on the same weekend as a US national?

I can't understand the whole logistics of building a one-off track like that , when they could have tried for any of the already made National tracks , or other non-national tracks. BUT.....with that being said , I kind of dig it to be honest. Kind of a SX / MX hybrid type track. And depending on the soil he uses , a 30min +2 lap moto may be pretty freakin' brutal.

I'd like to know the date as well. I'll be going to the USGP at GH again this year , and may think about going to this race as well.

Sometime in September. I'm hoping I can make it.

Edit: September 3rd

Not real motocross...outdoor supercross.

(Someone had to say it...but for the record, I like it! I liked Utah too).

Looks like a mild GP version of Daytona SX.

My thoughts too , Assen was half the size of that and it almost beat them.

Lose 6 jumps out of it and it might be ok . If only there were some outdoor tracks in the US.

That's at the 4 wide drag strip not at the speedway. Basically it's next to the speedway.

The track is placed between the grandstands on the drag strip that's at the top of the pic above.

Yea, and if any of you come into town for the weekend bring your sticks, we will get a little captains choice together or best ball. That's rocky river golf course up above the drag strip, pretty nice course! It was just a thought btw

I don't understand the cost effectiveness of it, unless the TV package is paying the bills. They could just do some small modifications to somewhere like Budds. With that said, I'm going, the tameness should give the Euro riders an equal chance to win.

The facility is what the draw is for races at places like this. Trying to bring in bigger corporate sponsors are easier with facilities like the big car facilities have. Yes, it's different from old school racing and I like the national tracks but for the sport to grow I think you need both.

Charlotte track could also make an excellent "Straight Rhythm" venue.
They could run 4-8 eliminations at one time on that dragstrip.
Also looks like it has more than enough spectator seating.

I think it looks cool but I don't know where the hell they are going to get all that dirt from!! That is A LOT of dirt, according to the track map. It will be interesting to see the final version and to also see how it races.

I shit on the Assen track but in the end it got pretty gnarly and the racing turned out alright. It certainly isn't outdoor mx but as a 1 or 2 off it could add an interesting dynamic to a season.
