Does it really take 17 rounds to decide this thing?

I can't wait for Tomac, Roczen, Stewart, Reed, etc to start ripping off wins week after week but what if they don't? 17 rounds seems pretty excessive. If it was a shorter season the Dungey concept would apply less and maybe make for more aggressive racing. Maybe not. Just hoping for more parody at the front of the pack.

Reset the points last three rounds. Invert the field. Random gate picks. Actual live gator pits. Mandatory backflip before the completion of the race. On lap seven take someone out then the winner of the best down continues to Lap 8. Change two tires and get some fuel on lap 19.

All of these, great ideas.

I hate watching races, too. It's much more fun just to look at the championship standings on Sunday morning.

I love the off season so much, I wish there were less races too.

There's a lot of parody in your post, too.

But I am kind of amazed that anyone (maybe short of the racers themselves) would complain about more racing, rather than less.

For the life of me I don't understand the reset the points ideas.... So all the hard work for the past 3 months gets erased?

Can someone rationally explain this to me that would make sense?

Do you understand why they have playoffs in every other sport?

To make things more boring and draw less attention as the season goes on.

If the racers knew it was going to reset, they wouldnt work so hard in the beginning parts of the season.

The series is in danger of being turned into a parody two races in by what suddenly looks to be a lack of parity.

Not if they have to qualify for the playoff.

It is still a terrible concept. As fans you get short changed by the effort put forth by the riders. Top guys do what they have to do to be top ten in points. Not to mention the guys who get hurt for no reason in a season. Change the format of the race itself if you want parody. Make a few rounds two ten lap mains.

I would not mind 17 nationals and just 12 supercross races.

Agree 100% - 17 rounds is barely enough. Should be 20 rounds for SX and 16 for MX. Tomac takes a while to get started. Canard might need to rebound from an injury.

Except European National Football leagues, probably most watched sports in the World.

Only true home and away series in any sports I know.

Then we're stuck with Texans go 30-0 to the cheifs, and the cheifs getting smoked by whoever beat em....

But it gave Texans hope after starting what, 2 and 5???

-disappointed Texans fan, but still better than being a cowboys fan.

Whats your point? Dungey got second in the first round and won the second round. Yes he is consistent, he had the most wins last year and the championship. As far as Tomac, Reed and Roczen starting to win? The way Dungey is riding they might need all 17 rounds.

Now lets get real. Tomac, Roczen, Anderson, Canard and Reed will likely win races this yea. And I hope it takes all 17 rounds for it to happen.

What.... No I hadn't heard that?!

But this isn't team or stick and ball sports, it's racing, and I think resetting the points mid way or 3/4 the way through is an absurd idea... To me.

So other than the explanation of... They do it like that over in the other 3 letter leagues so we should do it too! Apply it to our sport, MX/SX RACING ... Where the goal is to amass the most amount of points in a season to crown the champion and explain how resetting the points is a good idea and some how will magically make it all more interesting.

Maybe do the grand national champion with both MX and SX with the blue plate or something would be cool, sort of uniting the two disciplines and champions together???
