Do you think the test in place, which checks for cognitive brain function at the most basic levels is really in place to protect riders at a high enough degree? Allowing people back into competition and the opportunity to sustain secondary impact 7 days after the first one?
K.
James will do whatever he can do and say to get out there when He wants to be. The test in place is not doing ithe job of protecting the riders ( from themselves. ) and allowing the soft tissue enough time to fully heal. How long does it take a bruise to heal? how long does it take for a bruise on your brain to heal? A: Not the same time or rate.
let me sound like you idiots.
" I hope james goes out there with the chance to crash and winds up a potato because it doesn't matter yay I get to see js7 go fasttttt "
the protocol being strong enough to not allow riders the opportunity for a second trauma within a week is the issue. that's what I'm arguing for. there's no mandated cool down period after a head trauma of any degree, like most other sports. like any sport that's throwing away reckless championship and points chases for the personal well being of the athletes.
Pit Row
Oh wait, yes you do
If everyone else is wrong about this: Worst case scenario is everyone is cheering on a rider who is punch drunk and could cause himself some pretty hardcore long term health risks. One crash this weekend at Bubba could be done for good. But at least he "toughed it out" right?
I know if Im going to be wrong about this, I know which scenario I do NOT want to be wrong about.
This isnt Ronnie Lott cutting off a finger so he can stay in the game. Brain stuff is different. But u wouldnt know it from the cheer section in this thread.
Wow...
Sad for the sport. Sad for James Stewart. Sad for all the people that think he should be racing this weekend.
I can tell you in no uncertain terms that if I was in James Stewart's position regardless of whether I was six, 16, 26, 36, or 46 my mom and my dad would be out there at the first practice and grab the front of my helmet and refused to let go.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart you should be ashamed of yourselves. Your son was knocked out cold six days ago and if you don't do everything in your power to keep him for racing this weekend it's a travesty.
