I have a 07 RM250 and looking for a second wheel set. I would like to find a set of stock hubs to have them turned and anodized. Anyone know what years will fit and if the current 4 stroke hubs will fit?

I have not contacted anyone at this point. Honestly didn't even think about that. I will call TCR today and see what they have to say. I was planning to send the hubs to them anyway.

Any rm 2 stroke hub from 01 to the year they were discontinued will work. Rmz hubs will not work. They have a 4 bolt disc pattern. Rm hubs have 6 bolt hub pattern. The wheel spacers are all different for the rmz hubs.

Tcr does awesome work. He turned down my Suzuki hubs and anodized them mag black.

If you go the tcr route. Post a picture of the hubs if you decide to polish them silver or anodize them tcr brown mag color. Just to see what my hubs could have been if I went the other route haha

Haha will do! I appreciate the info. My plan is to go with the factory mag color.

a new RM rear hub is about 230 at partzilla. You may find some used rims and Hubs on ebay etc, i have seen some but they were kinda beat. Maybe call TCR and see what they suggest

the RMZ wheels definitely wont fit since the distance from sprocket to disc is a lot different on the rear.

on the front, you might be able to make it fit by finding smaller ID bearings and getting new spacers made up.

i would bet there are plenty of complete RM smoker wheels on ebay

The magnesium or brown as it is also called looks so sick.

As an FYI for anyone curious, I spoke with Troy at TCR and the only hubs that will fit the RM are RM hubs (never saw that one coming...). As stated by dbrunski125 RMZ hubs will not work. I found a set of wheels with rotors for cheap from a buddy so ill update once I get them back from TCR. My plan is the mag/brown color "turned" hubs with Black Excels.

I was at his shop in early Dec, I asked him about RM hubs as he was lacing up a new rear yellow hoop for my RM. If remember correctly he stated there just wasn't enough demand for RM hubs...... Even his son's RM 125 sported turned down ano OEM hubs........

That is the same as I plan to run. Be sure to post pics once you get them so we can see how they look!

Any decent weight savings by having him turn down the hubs?

If any of you listen to PulpMXshow I asked the question on last nights show regarding turned hubs. I have not had a chance to listen to the show yet but a friend of mine said they got pretty worked up and even called John at Dubya to get his opinion. Going to have to listen to it tonight.

Maybe life an 1/8th of a lb on mine. More for looks. Cheap alternative to 600$ set of talon hubs etc..

I know Vince over at FasterUSA says NOT to turn down the RM hubs. They have had too many failures, because on the RMs specifically, there just isn't much material left afterwards.

I haven't had any issues. I asked troy the same thing myself. He turned down all the hubs for amateur suzuki teams. Said he did crush test on stock rm hub and a turned down rm hub. Breaking points were almost the same. That's his word. So idk.

I know that the factory suzuki 2 strokes (ones Carmichael whyndham and jesseman rode ) all had a turned down oem front hub and magnesium rear hub.

I listened to it. Berlutti (former factory Suzuki Mechanic) said don't do it. He said that all of these manufacturers are trying to make their production bike as lightweight as possible so they aren't leaving material on those hubs that doesn't need to be there. Matthes said he called Dubya wheels and he said that after they gave a full disclosure about the fact they they are in the business of selling hubs they said that it was not a good thing to do. They said they had reservations about turning down a cast aluminum hub and are willing to bet that any shop willing to turn down your hub doesn't carry liability insurance for when it fails on you on the face of a jump. They also said that all of the factory and privateer teams are running billet aluminum hubs these days - typically Kite or Talon. And somebody said that the factory teams run billet aluminum hubs from Japan that are literally unobtainable to the average person because they cannot be purchased.

Berlutti also shared a story about some factory rider in the 80s or 90s (don't remember who) who raced a bike over in Japan that had turned down hubs which ended up failing on him in the race.

I was thinking about getting a set of hubs turned down for one of my bikes and was not happy to hear this conversation on Pulp MX. Of course these were just a few people's opinions but I must say it did sway my decision to not do it.

I've also turned mine down and will get anodised black. I also researched it, A lot of factory Suzuki bikes throughout the years have run turned down OEM hubs, I mainly did it for looks and weight savings over billet hubs.

They only skim a hair off them for machined finish so the ano turns out better. They don't remove inches of material.

All have a turned down oem hub on the front. I'm not sure what to say really. I've look at my turned down oem rear hub to an oem rmz 450 hub and rmz hub looks even smaller then my rm hub.

I also don't think I'd be able to find it again but on one of the vital pit bikes things they said that Josh hills yz 450f before he retired had turned down oem hubs thay were then ceramic coated.

the hubs in those pictures dont look like turned down stock ones to me since the wheel spacers are a lot shorter than stock- unless thats because they are running wider fork lugs.

all that aside, you guys are comparing apples to oranges- the stock RM hubs have those webs on them for a reason!

Maybe I've been lucky idk lol. I have a hard time seeing it's a problem when you look at an oem crf hub and see how small it is. Jay clark also built up an rm 125 on racer x 2 years ago that had turned down tcr hubs. Maybe you guys are right. Who knows lol

Need to ask decoster on a pod cast sometime ...lol
