Straightened it up, and it was still a fun beater / trail bike even though it was way outdated by the time I got it.
Engine made a fun to ride power spread, and forks were great.

I think you should do the same to the clutch cover. Every project that guys show here has more time in them than they like to admit . I've spent a week of nights in the garage working out the most simple detail. The Mickey 6 looks bad ass.
How were 88 YZ forks?
JMCD, your Dads bike looks great too.
Forks were fine, they have the Race Tech Gold Valves in them and it's the best you can do for non-cartridge forks.
The #6 came right from Heben who wrenched for Dymond in '88 and still had the template.
Hmmmm on the right side cover....that's an idea!
Thanks for not putting a 45 on it. Putting Damon's number on a 88/89 YZ is getting almost as old as putting lightning bolts on a 78 YZ250.
I am surprised 88 YZ forks weren't cartridge. I haven't used Race Rech Gold Valves but I know people who have and they were really happy with them.
Has Chris set you up with the Black Ops Coil on any of your bikes yet? I really liked it on my KX125.
Can't wait to modify them for my 79 YZ400 to accept a drum brake.
