Mx Sports has classes up. They kind of combined the 45 and 50+ taking 30 45+ riders and 20 50+ riders. They must be going to do a stagger start because you can't run both classes and the class numbers are 17.1 and 17.2.

I don't get it.....there will be 45 and 50+ quali's?? And you have to double class with the 40's? I guess that's the deal.

Sounds kinda strange. Eggers, a little help...

The 45 and 50 will run together at the national, but seperate at the regionals. You can try to qualify for both at the regionals, but you must choose which to ride at the national. They will have to stagger start. They did this several years ago when Big Dave was alive, but they put the 30 and 50 together with a full gate of 30+ and twenty 50+.

I know what you mean. I only live 50 miles from Lorettas and have qualified and raced there 10 or 12 times (I'll have to count my bibs), but I turned 50 and it has me tempted.

Ok, I checked their website and I see the 45 and 50+ classes, but I don't see where it says 30 from one class and 20 from the other, all it said at the bottom was you could not race both classes at LL's. Where did you get the reduced class size information?

My buddy Rodney is going to like this, he is 53 and has been trying for LL's for a long time, maybe this time he can make it there on his YZ125 in 50+.

Wow, a 125, talk about a hardcore 2 stroke holdout. Good for him, I hope he makes it.

LOL I don't think I could ride a 125 anymore there likely is an wieght limit....

going to that race and getting there through millville, well the ole back will just likley stay racing HS. at in HS races your ride and not sit around all day. LOL at LL you sit around all week!..... not sure i could do that anymore.

I hit 50 on June 8th, I'm eligible if I turn fiddy before Loretta's , right ?

Or, must I be FiDDY AT aREA/ regionals ?

Anyway, I don't think I 'd make it in, I'd like to try tho, even with

my history of getting arm-pump during sign-up and my

traditional dicing with the water-truck, getting drain-plugged by

Cobra 50's, etc....

It's a dream, dammit....

Look under how to qualify and there is a chart there that shows how many from each region and you can figure totals from that. The 45 and 50+ have a seperate area in the chart that shows the numbers. Rupert, you are good to go with a June bday!

It's the age you are as of the National, so you should be good. Or at least that was the case last year.
My birthday is July 29 so I made 40+ by a matter of days last year.

And Dude, I saw you riding with RJ-- just by osmosis that is worth 2 seconds a lap! You should go for it.

I'm with Huckster , we need a major vet race in the east.
L.L.'s is always fun when you are on the track but I'm over the week long deal.
It was a fun vacation when I was younger but it's too much of a good thing these days. knowing this may be why MXsports has been so slow in bring back the fifty plus guys.

Not to throw ice water on this development, but sure, it sounds fun and all, until a Kevin Walker or Rick Munson (IA) shows up.Sad There must be one per state just like 'em! Kind of pops my balloon.

Besides, where are they gonna put all the walkers at the start line???Blink

New rule as of today.....anyone that has competed in a Motocross des Nations cannot compete in the 50+ class at LL's.

(Chuck Sun..... not allowed.....no way)

I may be in again if Jorski's going!

Munson, Bensen, Downen, Miller, Vettitoe, and few others around here. Hell that puts me what barely in the top ten in the midwest???

Jimi is right a really strong Vet Race on a 3 day weekend would be cool, hell do a Vet MX/ HS/ DT/ trails deal and make them ride the same bike.

LOL circa 1962?

Where did you find the classes listed? On MX Sports web site when you click on amateur racing it says no page was found.

If you consider 12hrs not that far, I guess you're right. I was thinking more along the lines of having it be a rotating event with a stop at every national track(southwick, dilla, broome, red bud, 2 PA, and budds creek plus throw in Englishtown, and a few other really good non-nationals tracks. It would be fun.

Yes, it sounds far, but I have camped at the Vets race, with guys from MD and NJ. Plus, I am driving that far to Freestone after Christmas to race, but I am insprired to get out of this DEEP FREEZE, also!Laughing

It is 1/4 of the RacerX Vet Series. Byron, IL, then, Millville, MN, then Red Bud, MI, and ends up where it all began (20 yrs ago?) in Aztalan, WI.

Next year's dates are usually not listed until early Feb.

I would love to do the RacerX Vet Series. Red Bud and Byron is possible, but Millville and Aztalan is a bit of a road trip.

If Dowdy is not running anymore pro nat's I think the 40, 45 and eventually 50+ titles might be tied up for a bit.

I don't know if he is or not but I think it is safe to say he woud be the guy to beat.

Hey Wardy, Vittetoe took a nasty header on the start of the +45 moto at the Millville amatuer day. He ended up with a nasty neck injury, but I haven't spoken with him since that weekend. He made it back to the track, but was stuck in a lawn chair with a neck brace and no activity or moving around..

I think I'll give him a call to see how he's doing. It was one of those helicopter rides we all hate to think about taking.

Yes, I was thinking about him during this thread, when Wardy mentioned his name. I visited his campsite the night after it happened and I was cringing the whole time I spoke with him. He was VERY uncomfortable, to say the least!

Please pm me if you get ahold of him and please mention Jim Johnson was thinking about how he is doing.

I didn't know he crashed! I seen him at Muddy waters earlier in the year, but didn't get to talk to him alot. I dont' know him well enough to have his phone number but he is always been a good competitor (kicks my butt all the time). Hope he is ok...... let me know if you find out.
