Having poked around a little more...would appear Suzuki is killing it in the Indian market with smallish 150cc bikes. Maybe they are on the mend, but also maybe they are too focused elsewhere to care about the AMA rule or rehashing an old RM125.

The rant about the rule not really changing things was spot on. The rule change is just lip service at the moment. (Tho, I could see how it's a requisite that incremental steps are taken so that OEMs have time to adjust. If that's the case, so be it. Only those behind the scenes know the answer to that. I believe in DC so I won't be overly critical of the process).

I don't really care for the beef he has with the official. That's an entirely different topic that I wasn't commenting on. And the moment he said he was a correctional officer his cred went out the window in my book. Cops are liars thru & thru.

I..I do not have a beef with the official, if its anybody it would have been the dad that he made the comment to, not me. My beef is with Sam Gammon, but again I only responded with that cause I was ASKED why. The end.

Now cops are liars thru and thru. If anyone just lost all credibility here I think it is you. I know of numerous countries that have no police to ever worry about. I will personally buy you a ticket if you promise to stay. However, I kow you wont, since you could never survive there longer than a day cause you need those lying cops to protect your ass from thugs that would come punk your ass.

Your welcome for your protection.
The more u post on this thread, the more ur agenda becomes clear. Grape Ape was right. I don't spend enough time on this forum to have already known your shtick.

And judging by ur attitude towards everyone here (and ur profession), it's safe to say ur probably dead wrong about Sam Gammond. Whom I don't know btw, but I do know DC, and if he says Gammond is good, so be it fact.

U on the other hand? U were at a race where ur badge didn't give u the BS authority ur used too. U tried telling someone how it was gonna be and they didn't listen. And u have had a axe to grind ever since. I have no doubts ur not stretching the truth about Gammond to suit ur agenda. U wouldn't be the first cop to lie & ur used to getting away with it.

Like telling everyone ur a cop was somehow gonna give u a free pass. And as if honesty & integrity are some sorta requisites for any profession let alone yours. Don't make me laugh. If u don't like the stereotypes u cops have EARNED, take it up with each other. And stop acting like such a dick urself.

Sorry dude (not really) but ur high & mighty act carries no weight here on this forum or at the races. Get over urself. There's only one sheriff here and that's GuyB. The gun on his hip is FastEddy. The rest of us are inmates in this asylum just like u. Welcome to general population Nancy.

Oh, and go fuck urself regarding "protection". Only people I've ever needed protection from were people like u. I've been around the world a few times over, so spare me the lies about how dangerous the rest of the world is. Only true assholes tell people to go find another country to live in because I want to live in a America where I don't gotta worry about a cop trampling all over my civil liberties.

Guys as a promoter of AMA events this rule will affect more than you think. You would be surprised how many parents are buying their 12 and 13 year olds 250's and turning them loose in the local C and D classes. I think it is a great rule and it wouldn't have bothered me if they would have made the age 15 instead of 14.

As far as the deal at Balance goes I can say this as a AMA referee I would never say anything like that. Safety is my biggest concern on any race weekend. I vaguely remember this happening, it seems like we had some friends there, but I can't imagine a staggered start at a area qualifier with that many bikes, and I can see why anyone would be upset. I know that none of the guys I have worked with at the AMA would ever do anything like that. I would prefer to have parents mad it me for making a day longer because I ran to many moto or because I docked their kid for jumping on a yellow. Lastly I am not even sure how that is relevant to the topic, maybe I need to go back and read the thread again....

I spoke to the referee the day after this happened and he said he absolutely, positively, did not say that or anything close to that. Based on all the BS I have read from Thomas (Motox85), I tend to believe the referee over him. A couple of other things, there were 47 riders staggered in groups of 24 and 23. Look at the results of the race here:

http://www.racer-results.net/results/mxsports/2010/AreaRegional/results…

The highest finish in moto 1 is 24th which confirms there were not 75 bikes on the track. Granted there may have been a few non qualifiers there but nowhere near 75 bikes. I'm not a big fan of staggerstarts within a class, but having 47 bikes on the track is no big deal. It is only 5 more than a full gate.

MotoX85 claims 600 people left the race. There were only 407 entries that day. Assuming most of the kids at a qualifier ride two classes, that would be about 200 racers. If every single rider there left and took 2 people with them that would be 600 people. The next day they had more entries than the first day so Thomas is lying about this too. I have looked through the trackside file for this race and I didn't see any more DNFs than is normal at this race.

The referee in question has since passed away, but I believed him 100% when he says he didn't say it. What a sad life Thomas must lead that he still has to be blasting Sam Gammon about this 5 years later.

That's funny the ama official told Gammon he said it while i was standing right there.

Don't really care if you believe me or not.

Did the official have an accident or something, the one that was there wasn't very hold.

Sorry though I don't really have an agenda as you speak of. Just woke up today thought I'd go tell a bullshit story I made up for no apparent reason

I'll call horseshit right now.

Exactly what class does this rule affect. All the classes that you can ride a 250F in are ALREADY 14 yr old class. 250 A, B, C and Schoolboy 2 are ALL Already 14+ classes.

Also how does this do anything for 125s. You can ride an 80/ Supermini till your 15 and then jump right into a plus 14 class. The only change is you have to be 16 to ride a 450.

This is also useless, name one rider that has been injured that everyone talks about, that was riding a 450, none.

This is once again a "see we are doing something" without do anything.

How about you make rules that address the REAL problem.

EVERY one of these injuries that have been fatal or life changing has been because of track maintenance. Faces of jumps that are not maintained properly.

Want to make a rule for safety, how about require every track to have an official that monitors jump faces. I know every one "likes it rough" but this does not mean letting jumps get blow out of kickers in them, which is what has caused the most injuries. Don't believe me, how come the pro SX tracks are prepped after almost every heat.

How about make it a rule that when the water pump goes out at a national, they are required to fix it before they can continue the race instead of letting a certain section go to crap, a rider crashing then getting hit when he was on the ground. How about before you can hold a regional you actually have to have a few races at the track so you can determine how the track is going to deteriorate instead of finding out mid race and having to continue and cause a rider to endo off a huge kicker and land on his head. I have seen more people leave "national" events over the last few years because of track safety than I ever have.

This rule does absolutely nothing except let people, who sit and read forums think the AMA is doing anything. This rule affects NO CLASS of racing and will do nothing for the return of the 125 which I agree should be made a mandatory 2 year class before moving up to bigger bikes.

IF you really want to do something then change the age to 16 to ride a 250/450 (this would really hurt my rider cause he is 15, 6'2" and can throw a 450 around like its a toy) but for the general safety, make the age 16 for the big bikes.

THIS OF COURSE WILL NEVER HAPPEN. MX Sports, the OEMs and every "National" will lose money. And no matter how everyone rewords the problem. Kids safety really boils down to how much money the are still able to make.

If you don't think this last statement is true, I was standing right next to an AMA official under the control of Sam Gammon, you know the track crew and personal friend of MX Sports and Davey Coombs, tell a 65 riders father after stagger starting 73 bikes on the track at one time, that his KIDS SAFETY WAS NOT HIS CONCERN!!!!

So for the truth, I know it hurts sometime.

Wow

This Race-Dad Bitchfest Hi-Jack needs to stop.

Guess what? There IS a rule change. It does help in matters that some of us are VERY concerned with: we've got kids on bikes that're "too much" for a lot of them (see Windham's comments).

That's what the thread Was About...before people, race dads...as usual, went off on a tangent.

Aside from the bickering going on, I like the spirit of this thread and would appreciate more talk about the rule.

Hey Burn...at least the link to India was somewhat on track with the discussions! Throw me a bone here Smile

Finally, I remember in 2003 when my friend sold his brand new YZ250F to a 13 year old kid. I think he had some experience on a XR100 before that. I just remember thinking wow, this kid is possibly going to kill himself. He looked way out of his element. And the 250F's are a lot faster now. So I'm glad the AMA is recognizing this.

back to the topic at hand, i'm glad for the rule change as i can't imagine racing a 250 or 250f at the amateur level when i was 13 years old. Pierce will be 14 next year and he'll be racing all year in the 125 schoolboy classes, something that i applaud both KTM and Pierce/his family for making that decision. he's a big kid, but that doesn't mean he should be on a 250 already.

your attitude is refreshing peely and I agree. I met peirce this summer at Washougal and even though hes a big kid I think its great to see them transisition onto a 125 first. those top kids in the ams are so far beyond the local talent its not even funny. I mean how many kids can dfo what forkner and sexton did this past year on a local level but kids look at them and say "I can do that and naturally want to do the same when they are not even close to ready. personally I think this should be pushed hard in local racing not just ama.the 125 class is a great transision class or class to further your skills

I don't really care whether his story is true or not, but "ur" cop bashing is pathetic and way out of line. Tells me all I need to know about you, total bullshit.

This thread really delivers... damn. 125s, indecent acts, enraged mini dads and DC called out on something that happened six years ago that he had nothing to do with. Sweet baby Jesus, Anaheim needs to hurry up and get here!

Well Joe is actually a good friend of mine, he's 6"9" and about 320lbs. What other simile' would you have me use to describe the fact that he could have pinched the officials head of with 2 fingers. However since you always post the absolute literal meaning of every word you type. In a ring he probably does not have the boxing prowess of Mike Tyson. Thanks for squaring me away.

lmao!

that's like saying on a supercross track Ddavis probably does not have the speed of Ken Roczen

back to the topic at hand, i'm glad for the rule change as i can't imagine racing a 250 or 250f at the amateur level when i was 13 years old.

I mean how many kids can dfo what forkner and sexton did this past year on a local level but kids look at them and say "I can do that and naturally want to do the same when they are not even close to ready. personally I think this should be pushed hard in local racing not just ama.the 125 class is a great transision class or class to further your skills
right on man, glad you got a chance to meet him, great kid with a great head on his shoulders. he's absolutely flying on that 125, the ability to carry momentum like he does is great to see compared to the stop, pivot, go we've been seeing with am's on 4-strokes.

i for one dig the rule change
