New bike prep

Edited Date/Time 11/11/2015 9:33am
I'm getting a new '15 RMZ450 this week and I'd like to hear some input on what should be done to it before riding it, in terms of taking apart beforehand and what to grease, lock tite, etc. Also is there anything that should be done to the air forks prior to riding it for the first time?

-Grease the shock linkage
-Change the air filter or at least make sure it's oiled properly
-Change the oil or at least make sure the proper amount is in the motor
-Check chain slack
-Check wheel spokes tightness
-Check torque on axle nuts, triple clamps, etc
-Check air pressures

Let a rip.

In theory these are what you're paying the dealer to do with the bike prep fee you will most likely get charged and some dealers probably do it well but there's nothing wrong with double checking.

Tear it down to the frame and rebuild it...greasing, and checking torque on every fastener.

I ride the bike for an hour + to break it in first. Then take all plastic off and all suspension comes apart. Then if it moves it gets BelRay grease. I blue Loctite avery plastic bolt when reassembling.

I also service the suspension to get the stock fish oil out and Golden Spectro suspension fluid in. Throw the stock POS chain in the trash and put a high quality O ring chain on and usually add 1 or 2 teeth on a new aluminum sprocket.

Steering stem bearings, swingarm, linkage bearings. Don't forget anti-seize on the chain adjuster bolts.

Here is what I do:
1.) Grease swingarm, linkage, steering neck, brake pivot, and axles
2.) Anti-seize chain adjuster bolts
3.) Re-oil Air filter, Suzuki uses very little on their new bikes!
4.) Install an hour meter. Many companies offer a wireless version now
5.) Clean your brake rotors. The factories spray a protective film on them for shipment to prevent rust
6.) Check your fluids (oil, coolant, brake fluid)
7.) Blue loctite Kickstarter and subframe bolts

"Stock fish oil" ....wow. I'll take KYB 01 over aftermarket anyday of the week.
