My logic is I'm getting sick of people putting riders down and saying they're all crap if they aren't winning. According to the logic of many around here, if you're not getting better than about fifth, you must be trash, a waste of talent, and should be thrown to the wolves. This industry, and the fans mostly, have such a one-way street push them off a cliff way of thought at times... It's ridiculous! DJ, you fit right in with Grayson, negative about riders on the forum in almost every post.

the dude has been around for 10 years. In the same class. Where is his championship. Davalos' time has came and gone a very long time ago. It just amazes me people still pay him big chunks of money to win heat races. When up and coming kids that RIIIIP can't get a ride because dudes like davalos take up a spot.

Good luck on your new career Josh Hill. You were a hell of a racer brother.

I'm plenty passionate about the sport, but I'm also smart enough to know that if those up and coming kids truly do "RIIIIP," then they'll score a ride whether "Davalos take[s] up a spot" or not.

This years graduating class from lorettas im sure with given a ride that's on par with PC/Husky/Tld/Geico i would bet money that they would beat davalos. Probably make it through all the rounds too. Sanayei and bloss absolutely haul ass. Bloss won the freakin horizon award. I honestly can't wrap my head around why any factory team wouldn't give these kids a shot. If I had my own team id hire them over a 10 year vet in a stepping stone class all day. Davalos flat out doesn't deserve the ride he has. It's the truth. Whether I'm being harsh or not it is the truth. Dude has been handed factory ride after factory ride and produced nothing but some podiums and heat race wins. Guarantee this husky ride is his last one. About to get a ton of shit for this post but it's the dam truth.

How about if the new kids can beat the established guys then they get the rides? This is pro racing, not kick ball at recess. Everyone doesn't get a turn.

Guys in other pro sports do it all the time. Journeyman ball players who stay just good enough to stay in the league while young guys coming out of college get cut before they even get a shot.

By your logic that guy who has been playing in the nba for 15 years and riding the bench for the last 7 should stop getting a pay check that feeds him and his family and let someone else have a turn.

I understand that. But davalos is not an established guy?? It's been 10 freaking years on all the best equipment and not one main event win lol. You vitals hate the truth I guess or just love 10+ year 250 guys who can't win

JB 19 I agree entirely with you. If the new kids want rides then they can earn them. Who is to say any of these new upcoming prodigies won't face injury after injury? We have seen some promising amateurs move into the pro ranks and not exactly set the world on fire.

That said, since 2006 Davalos has had podiums and top 5's as well as a couple wins. How does he not deserve a ride? Man some people.

got to feel sorry for josh hill- a case of what could have been with his racing career! super talented rider, with no luck whatsoever! must be really frustrating for someone like that. At least he has got a job with monster (assuming he will still be involved in the sport)

wonder where grant will go? he's another one of those riders that you could imagine racking up a lot more career wins if things had gone his way more often!

To say that Davalos doesn't deserve a ride, shows exactly how much you do NOT know about the sport. Who pays the riders? It is the SPONSORS who are putting up the money. They want to get a return on their money, increase brand recognition and grow their customer base. Why does Adam Cianciarulo get paid so well? He has a massive social media following and consistently is posting pictures of his sponsors products, even when he was not racing, he had a bigger social following than Dungey who won two championships this year.

Each sponsor (Rockstar, Monster, Red Bull, Toyota etc.) wants to hire riders that will get their brand in front of millions of consumers. Obviously, if your rider can get on the podium or win races, they will get more TV time and your PR group can create ads showing your product being successful.

James Stewart hasn't been in a real supercross title contention for a while now, but he sure sells product, so sponsors pay him a lot of money.

Bottom line is, unless you are sitting on the board of these sponsor's advertising divisions, you don't have the data on what the rider's efforts bring to the table.

He still has a great stats for his career even with all the injuries he has sustained. He was on fire 2014 SX and if teams want to take a gamble on getting that Davalos back then who are we to judge. He proved just less than 2 seasons ago he has what it takes to win.

Sorry to rehash a post from page 2, but there's a bit of a time difference between the States and Japan.

"Davalos flat out doesn't deserve the ride he has. It's the truth. Whether I'm being harsh or not it is the truth."

If it were "the truth," he wouldn't have a ride. What you just stated is nothing more than an opinion, of which you are entitled, but don't go trying to convince anyone it's "truth."

I don't understand all the ripping on Davalos, he's been a great rider and ambassador for the sport, he's well spoken, articulate, and he hauls the mail...thing teams look for when choosing riders. Plus, sometimes guys are just better on the 250 than they are on the 450, and if teams want to pay him to ride said 250 then so be it, why are you getting bent outta shape over it, it's not your money or team? The guy is one of the unluckiest riders out there, if not for a fluke snapped chain in practice he'd be a 250 regional champ, plus he'd have a few more dollars in his bank account that's already probably doing pretty well. Were all you guys bitching about MD also slamming Marvin Musquin (just for the record...I freakin love MM and the guy is a total baller and one of my fav's) for all his year in the 250 class...he's been riding a 250 since what, 2005-06? sure some was in Europe, but he was still on the tidler for 9-10 years, I never heard people bitch about MM and all his years in the tidler class. I look at this like some of the others have said here, you don't like that MD is on a team riding a 250 and taking a spot from RIIIIPPERS, start your own team with the guys you like, maybe a gofundme page or whatever, maybe use your trust fund (teams are an AMAZING investment btw) and have them beat MD, and they'll be on their way in no time....

Couple quick questions relating back to silly season...

Has Tickle been resigned with RCH?

Given that Bogle is now officially staying GEICO Honda does the Factory Yamaha effort look stale?

So if Tickle isn't resigned, RCH is known to have lost some title sponsors, and Reed has a friendship with RC as well as a few title sponsors of his own that don't conflict with the team. Could we see Reed go RCH in place of Tickle? Or as a possible 3rd rider?

Reed could always transition into team manager there in the future as well.

Just some fun vital speculation! I remember there being talks at one point (or more) between the two

yes , Tickle is still with RCH for another year.

Yes it looks like this Yamaha new team has gone South , sounds like Reed still trying to make it happen at least for a ride for himself.

I don't see Reed being a third rider at RCH.

Looks like the 250 Suzuki team is going to be Dirt Candy. Also found it interesting that Hahn will be riding for Team Rockwell, instead of Crossland.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Reed on yellow---RCH or otherwise. I would be surprised if Davalos gives a shit what anyone else thinks---its HIS career and he isn't on a certain message board asking any of you to pay his bills. So fuck off and leave the man alone.

Davalos is a very good 250 supercross racer.

Anyone who doesn't think so hasn't been paying attention.
