My current position at work has been eliminated and there is a slight possibility that I could have to re locate to one of the two in subject line. Any info that you can share would be greatly appreciated. i.e. moto, best place to live in those areas, other things to do close by etc. etc.
Sac you have Hangtown, Marrysville( E street and Riverfront), Club Moto, 408 Mx, and there's more I don't know about and can't remember right now.
I say NorCal, but I am biased.
nicest areas with nicest neighborhoodsand schools (if you have kids) are gonna be Folsom and Roseville Area

While I know why you are calling it the armpit, some areas are super nice, I've considered getting out of the $700,000 house here and getting a pimp palace in Bako, after all I'm never really home except to wash bikes and rest my body for a few hours.
I thought Bakersfield was cool for about 10 minutes back in the mid 80s during a Fall Guy episode in which Colt Seavers had to go there and it was portrayed as a tiny little town with one stop light and a bar (which back then it probably was). I know better now. It's a shithole like RandyS said ^^^^^
There you go OP, I forgot Cal City Mx and LACR.
Although from all the pictures and videos I've seen Cal City has the best dirt out of the tracks I mentioned near Bakersfield. Always wet and soft!
Pit Row
Yes i love to snow board and would love to ride a mountain bike in "mountains!"
I thought Fresno was the armpit of California.
BTW. I'll be in Long Beach for a week starting next Wednesday.
As far as riding is concerned there are 3 tracks within an hour, kcrp which is pretty new on the outskirts of town and is a pretty good track. And then theres DT1 mx in Tulare which has great dirt but the track prep is god awful and the layout is kinda a combination between a mini and vet track, so it gets pretty damn boring after a moto or two. Porterville also has a track it's ok dirt is kinda a hard clay but they never really have any flaggers there so it can get kinda dangerous.
Up until the track opened in Bako the only options close were Tulare or Porterville so we always would either drive down south ( comp edge, 395, glen Helen, etc) or north (hang town, e street) or head to zaca and go to the coast. But any of those options are 3 hours or more
Same goes to Sacramento? What part would you reccomend for a median income? As of today it looks Like I would be in Sac before Bako
Don't know your budget, but expect to pay 350k for a small starter home and up from there.
Which direction you have to commute is an issue too.
While we don't have Bay area or Southern Ca traffic, I would factor drive time too.
From my place in Roseville I have 5 tracks within 30 mins, or I can head east up the hill for the trails.
If you are gonna head out this way, I would say look at the Sacto area. Bako can be rough, and while you have the so cal tracks kinda sorta near by, getting to them stinks. The so cal traffic and Grapevine suck to deal with. While you might only be "2.5 hours" from glen helen or whatever, you will be sitting in traffic, trust me.
Sacto has more to offer than Bako, in my opinion. Its bigger and has more culture. It also has nicer areas to live, and as compared to Bako. Sacto is closer to Tahoe if you like the mountains.
The MX tracks of Nor Cal are good, and you have plenty of options, and most have been mentioned above.
I would look at Sacramento over Bako all day long.
I know a dude that will let you blow up berms all day on his track for a growler of Boneyard RPM... Just sayin
