In my "spare time" (whatever that is) over the last couple weeks I've been building my own frame covers, case guard, and skid plate. I got them finished and all cleaned up today. A few imperfections but overall I'm pretty happy with how they came out.

No one commented on these? These look great!
How much time do you have in making them?

Thanks! The skid plate and case guard didn't take too long. Couple hours each maybe. I think it took longer to make the patterns than it did to actually build the parts. The frame covers took a while though. Mostly just because I'm so picky. I think I made 4 of each before I got some that I was happy with. I'd get one done and bolt it on and there'd be some little thing I wasn't happy with so I'd go back and change the pattern and try again.

I'll keep you in mind! I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I put all new bearings in my 93 linkage before I discovered it wouldn't work. The swingarm I got is in pretty rough shape so I'm not sure I even want to use it. I would just put my 93 swingarm back on but it has two cracks around the caliper bracket. If I decide to run the 95 swingarm I'll get ahold of you on the linkage. Thanks!

Hi, how does the skid plate fix?
I just made a couple little tabs and welded them to the frame. These pictures are obviously before anything was cleaned up or painted...I'll post better ones here soon. I'm getting everything together now.

Great job fabricating your own frame guards, they're definitely nice. Thanks for sharing.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think they were ever in production. I built my own and made modifications to the frame to mount it. I believe there was someone else on this thread that had one made for theirs, also.

You can easily arrange it by yourself, I did it and the tough point is to modify the frame with the 2 threaded bushes, you need only a 5 mm thickness aluminium plate and a good tig welder.

This is mine:

I thought it maybe and I will do so but to do good work it takes some hours work and welder. I was also thinking to realize from block of aluminum with CNC milling machine of a friend. Thanks for tips!

I've had the dream of building this bike for a long time. After holding onto it for 15 years I was finally able to do it. I can't thank everyone who made it possible enough. There's a lot of time and a lot of money there, but most importantly, there's a lot of pride. Thank you everyone for sharing your information!

Understood. I don't have much knowledge of English, are Italian, and hadn't read well. I reiterate that I think it is a good job. I'm ending my reply and then I insert pictures.

There seems to be several languages spoken here. It can be hard to understand each other sometimes, but everyone here shares the same love! Looks like you're off to a good start!

I like to use UFO. The only thing I don't like is the front fenders aren't pre-drilled for some reason...

I got the polisport complete kit from motosports but I think they're out of them, saw them on ebay for around $100

For those that have read through this thread, will know how rare the genuine white rear fenders are, and how essential they are for a 96 McGrath build! I have one that i'll sell for the right price - i don't think you'll find another...

Email me if interested... chuck_davies@hotmail.com

Worldwide shipping available.

Thanks!

Felt great to be back on my old 93 again! Quite possibly my last ride of the year as I don't think the weather is going to hold out too much longer and it was a perfect way to end the season!
