Most of us involved in MX have met, talked, raced or have had something to do with Ben.
Yup, real nice guy to boot....!!!

Well either way , Ben rode his freakin' boof off today and just killed it! Was an awesome site to see. On a whole other level than what I thought was possible for him. The dude is a legend. Same with that Taniel Leok guy , 15yrs at MXoN's. Unreal!

your right, most of us here have seen him grow up, and followed the races from distance, and travelled to see him,

I remember my parents calling me at 3am when he won his first GP is sweden, was lucky enough to be at ernee in 2005, and to also see him win the British GP on teh Isle of White,
always regret not buying a ticket to ST louis in 07, when he wrapped up the East Coast series, my and my cousin had talked about it 4 weeks before, but i did not want to jinx him, but got to see him at Glen Helen in 2007 for the last round of the outdoors win at glen helen,

I hope people grasp the little racing he did prior to this. If he had more fitness I think he could've won the last race.

Number 1 rider to never 'have' only because of tough luck..

Yep. 3 nationals between Aus and NZ.

Fucking astronomically ridiculous.

Screw AMA's how about GP's?..Unfortunately you have to do both in the AMA's, I doubt he would be competitive in SX now a days.
He wouldn't necessarily have to ride SX. When he road for TLD it was outdoors only. As good as he's going outdoors attempting SX at this point would be counterproductive to the twilight of his career.

Would love to see him make another run at an American outdoor title, but I know it's highly unlikely with the lack of seats on good bikes. I think he showed he's more than deserving of being mentioned on the list of guys being named for the Honda outdoor replacement ride. Actually come to think of it I wonder if he was ever offered a simlar gig in the US to what Freddie Noren has. BT101 would've been a perfect canidate to skip SX, test for outdoors and come swinging for the first round of MX.

The form Ben had 2 years ago before CR22 gave him a call to ride in the states was insane.

He was hauling at every event locally and then f'd his hip again at his last race in Aus before heading stateside.

That would have been his year i think. Crazy fast.

He did good this weekend though. Nice way to go out after all that injury shit.

Got to say that I predicted it. His performance was no surprise too me. He was the only guy to ever keep RV honest for a whole season.

I also have had the pleasure of racing against him in NZ. (he lapped both times)

He is indeed a stud.

Tell me about it, after getting some weird silence down the phone a few times while talking to one of our Canadian customers in a past job, someone finally explained to me that MATE means something a little different in Canadain terms Smile

As for BT, he is a fucking awesome, though I unlike Crush will refrain from trying to Boof him, or in Canadain terms, trying to Mate with him.

Does anyone know what bike he was riding over there? Looked quite a bit different than the pro circuit bike he rode at the U,S GP.

Like many have said, Ben Townley is a true badass. The dude can come out of nowhere, flip the switch and go as fast or faster than anybody else on the track...anyplace anytime.

I'm still amazed by Ben's ride this past weekend. I dug watching him when he was here in the states. Watching him give RV and everyone else fits. This weekend was like a blast from the past. Coming from what he's been able to do the past couple years , that ride was beyond incredible!

I find it quite funny how everyone just loves him now, and deservedly so

there was not so much love after he won a moto in 2010, on a privateer honda,

I dug Ben way before that , and after it. Was a little pissed right after it happened , but never made me " not a fan ".

What are you talking about?

Colorado Des Nations? Who the fuck cares about that?

Short has crossed and blocked and shoved as much or more than anyone, i'd doubt even he is pissed.

Were people pissed?
