Back on track. Rock is right regarding party politics.Bauer need not slander good spirited pride while pointing put the obvious (the US is not dominating).
This joint is full of clever people. Smart enough to know the USofA is going to soar victorious because we eat more fuggin Cheetos than any limp wristed Euro trash countries combined!

I've always found this kind of trash talking one's own country to be both pathetic and a sign of weak character. Someone who feels a need to boost their own ego by taking cheap shots at the people and place that has given them so much.

How cool you are.
I like Bauer. know him. Good guy.

But, we are polar opposites politically. He's a left winger by definition. An apologist. Kind of ashamed to be American.

It's ok, but I disagree with this line of thinking. Which, of course, is what our country is about.

Where are all the "Rah Rah, USA USA" puffed out chests that we all came to know and be embarrassed by every year? I guess between getting our asses handed to us at the MXoN the past few years and RV's flameout at the GPs, you gung-ho patriots are finally realizing that we all put our pants on one leg at a time, it's just dirt bikes and those Euros are a match for our fastest guys...oftentimes better.

It took you long enough.

Team usa lost for the 4th time in a row. Next year is Marrgiora, Italy. 30 years after our dream team dominated. Maybe, just maybe we will have a healthy Tomac, Dungey and Martin. We can only hope right?

They rode fantastic, couple better starts in that final moto would have been nice though.

And if Dungey doesn't want to go, send Barcia again. Barcia has impressed me over the years and particularly at MXON.

Nonetheless, I'm proud of how this US team rode this weekend.

Next year give me Tomac, Barcia, and Webb. There are those guys who step it up when it comes to racing for thier country, and I think those three are the dudes.

i just read he opening comment from the man who created this thread, have not read any of the other comments

and --- I wanted to say, I too noticed this, very nice what I have been seeing on the forum and the interviews of riders from the USA and the reports from the American press etc. I have also noticed an about face from a few years ago. The Americans are really getting more international, more fair-minded and much less closed-minded than in the past, bravo my fellow Americans.

Living now for the last 14 years in Europe, I have often had to explain and excuse my fellow Americans for their behavior explaining it is because they live in such a big world-dominating country and they speak the world language etc and so Europe needs to excuse them for not knowing any better about what they think or say or how they act

but you know, we (Americans) are making great strides in this area - bravo to all of you....

now we just have to brush up on those European names (pronouncing them).... It's GEE-YO Matthis, not GEE-YAT.... Smile

It'll be nice when we can be proud of our country like other people are of theirs without having to worry about offending someone.

yes, Just read about someone's comment about Barcia. I saw a few of his interviews leading up the this weekend.

He is a fine example of my first post, great guy !

Dungey is too, but he is just not into the "riding for his country thing" Does not really seem to be to open to Europe, just wants to stay home, it is a pity but we have to just accept it, Just like Marty Smith, just a small-town guy who did not understand things outside the USA and did not want to understand.

Barcia is much more like a LaPorte type of guy.

I think French MX fans just won MOTOCROSS.

Until I see a race with that size crowd and that much atmosphere and intensity from the fans, then the French fans are the undisputed champions of moto!!

That race was a spectacle moto can be proud of.

I am from the USA been living in Poland now for 14 years - here it is 100% clear, a Polish guy is a Polish guy and when there is a world cup soccer game, then everyone knows who is Polish and who is not etc.

From here looking back at my USA, I think I know what you are saying,,,,, seeing Dungey who seemed to be giving it about 70% of his effort over the past few MXDN and not wanting to attend this year, I started trying to think why? It always seems the Euros are always so eager to ride for their teams and I wondered why from time to time the American riders just don't seem to be to excited about it.

Dungey, for example, seems on the outside to be the "All American Guy". Like I said, I have been away for some time now, is there still that "All American Guy" concept in my the USA ?

upps, sorry guys, I just read my own post and it seems like i am coming down on Dungey,

not the case at all,

i really think if he does not feel comfortable riding for the usa, it is his decision and i respect it.

it would be wrong to push a rider to ride for his country, I am a Dungey fan !

When I was in France and Scottland for long periods of time for work I noticed that other countries would be proud and celebrate a 4th or a 5th place finish in a sporting event like they won the damn thing. The amount of pride they showed for their country was insane and if America would've done similar we would've been ragged on for being an arrogant American.

I've never understood why other country's can be proud but we can only be apologetic.

I'm proud of our guys for taking second and I could give two shits if that upsets someone.

I agree. The French fans were spectacular! I love hearing the air horns and chainsaws, although they could get a annoying through the day. They were loving it. Their enthusiasm made watching the race that much more exciting for me. Our guys rode very well and have nothing to be ashamed of.

This picture represents the era I was drawn to the sport. Being at Honda Hills circa 1972 and seeing my first Trans AM blew my mind as a 16 year old kid. I just remembered that someone stole Mikkola's jersey and they made an announcement because he needed it for the next Moto. I don't remember what happened (did he get it back or not) but then again sometimes I don't remember what happen yesterday much less 44 years ago
Right on man........
Saw Weinert beat the Euros in the downpour/mud at Rio in Houston.

I think A LOT of us were smitten by this sport in the good ol GOLDEN ERA of Trans AM moto....."Like"

Bauer, you sure are good at stirring the pot dude....-Roger ;-D

i get enough of political BS on Facebook so really don't need to see the tired liberal versus conservative garbage here.

PS I realized awhile ago the whole political process is a facade to keep us worker bees inline. Democrats and Republicans both are controlled by the same puppet master(s) and fighting amongst ourselves is their intent. As along as we keep blaming the other party we fail to notice who really has us all bent over.
So who really has us all bent over? I would love to hear your theory on this one.

BTW, IMO this thread hasn't been bad, all jabs were above the belt and in good fun from both sides of the pond. Lots of good laughs, awesome photo-chops, and fun MEMEs, nothing for folks to sand their panties.

Julian, your posts alone are a microcosm of this thread.

Post 1) Americans are too patriotic, and you have to apologize for them to your European friends.
Post 3) Polish are patriotic which seems to be okay and Dungey does not seem to be patriotic, which you think is a pity.
Post 4) you apologize for calling Dungey non patriotic.

The world of political correctness is one big double bind. If you recall the comments from Dungey ( to which you refer) on European racing were a rare moment where he felt free enough to remove his protective filter and speak his mind. He is normally very reserved and politically correct. And he gets skewered on this site for both approaches.

Yes it's true that America is becoming more politically correct over the past few years, but I am not sure that is really a good thing for America or the world.
