Was awesome to see you killing it this year Christian, great story! Actually pretty unbelievable putting it into perspective, quit, got a job, got married, had a kid, time away and then boom! Well done.

My question is... how many times have the older industry guys either told you some crazy stories about your Dad, or made mention of it? Not sure you can share any but when you were on Pulp a while back I had to wonder. He was a larger than life figure of 80s/90s moto!
There are many stories. Some I don't want to know haha!
Well, not a story from the an "industry guy" but sort of funny none the less.....your dad was doing a one day school at Dry Hill, north of Memphis....he had about 10 kids and was doing a good job with them all. He kept on getting on my kid about getting on the gas, really twisting the throttle so it's screaminnnnn, (yz85), and then hard on the brakes...

Guess my kid was not getting it, so he takes him to a flat field, gets on the bike, sitting behind my son, and then just takes off rippin thru the gears, just absolutely flying, funny to see with both of them on the bike. and then comes in hard on the brakes, front forks bottoming out etc....

he get's off the bike, looks at my son, and says, "so now do you get it?" and walks back to the track....my son on the other hand, well he was a bit scaredSmile

fun times!

good luck in 16!

From what I've seen, it's cool that Chase gets a chance to learn from Christian.

Hi Christian. As an old guy (and as a parent) I enjoy seeing the "two generations" of successful father/son families at the pro level (You and your dad, the Jones's, Hansen's, Smith's, Bailey's, Martin's, etc). Obviously you've spun more laps at Spring Creek over the past couple years when living in Minnesota than you would have prior years. What is your impression of the expanded "Martin Mountain"? Had to be a heck of a challenge on the 250f's.

Also, a young photographer from this area shot this photo of you at Red Bud. Thought it was pretty awesome.

Super cool to have you here man thanks !

As an extremely talented rider what is the biggest thing you see an amateur do wrong in regards to riding techniques ?

Also what do you think of the STOCK CRF ?

Well if I lived in Cali that'd be legit but I'm in tx. Thanks for the replies. Maybe one day I'll get to ride in Cali and maybe I'll see at out at the track!

Mx108 in Barnum, MN for sure. And my favorite track on the pro circuit is Thunder Valley.

Awesome picture man. I love the new section at Millville. It was harder this year cause it rained so it was muddy but love that track!

I think amateurs now a days are pretty well taught, style wise. It's all about how you can twist that throttle at the end of the day haha! The stock CRF's are awesome. It's an all around great bike and what I rode the two years I was off!

You came back to racing and were running the pace of the leaders (and even leading). What was the mindset you had ? Was It pure confidence or was there a feeling of stepping back in feeling like an underdog who was just gonna throw haymakers with nothing to lose?

Awesome shot! Yes I absolutely was pumped- love that track.
Gotta love this reply About Thunder Valley since many people took to the forum (Just after the race) to cry about err express their thoughts about the conditions of the track because little maintenance was done between moto's
Good to see that not all MX'ers are pampered these days and expect a Motocross track to be challenging as the day progresses.

What was your thoughts about the track conditions during the days racing?

After bagging an incredible hottie like Paige, do you sometimes just smirk at yourself in the mirror and be like "yeah buddy"?

It was definitely not confidence haha maybe so excited to be back that I was just going for it. I shocked myself a lot but after that I got a lot of confidence that I had the potential to be up there!

I love how the track changes through the day haha wouldn't be as fun or challenging if it was perfect all day long. Its good to have to strategize with the team about what we need to change for the race to come. Also tests the skill level of the riders. You learn a lot more from a challenging track than from a perfectly groomed track.

What do you think about running the #38 next year? You sure did make the #68 look good out there this last year.

Thanks for doing this, Christian. It's awesome to see you have so much success, but it's also makes me feel old, because I used to watch your dad tear up Barona Oaks on a YZ80 back in the day.

At any point in your career, have you ever felt like you have more to prove than other riders, given who your dad and father-in-law are?
I was at Dave & Buster's once in SD and Christian (who was a tyke) spilled a drink all over the place, his dad was pissed.. LOL. I am right there with you in feeling old seeing how old Christian is now. BTW, I was a big fan of your dad's!! Style forever and a real racing personality to go with it.

Hey Christian, thanks for taking some time out of your life to do this! After living in MN for the past couple years, what are your thoughts on the D23 scene and some of the fast riders coming from there, how the MN people treated you (MN nice?), and what you like/dislike about CA/MN, MX wise?

I grew up there then moved to CA in the 90s, have raced and ridden in both places, so the opposite transition you did, really, on a much different level.

Good luck!

What was your job title after racing, What did you exactly do? And what was the final straw, what made you want to come back to racing

I would like to hear about the day you were able to beat you dad on the track, how old you were and how much it pissed him off. I can remember the day like it was yesterday when my son motored on by and i totally t-boned him riding way over my head trying to keep up. Dizzy

Thank you!! I don't know that there was one single moment but a lot of little moments that added up. I realized that I still had a lot of talent to show. Being sidelined almost my whole career and then being able to finally get healthy the past two years really put it into perspective of how much potential I have.
