It's obvious that was an obligation. Let the guy retire and disappear and put someone in the booth who wants to be there.

Seriously. Why is he going to the MXDN? It's stupid to have (arguably) the fastest guy in the world at the race, but not racing.

If he doesn't want to be involved, see ya!

Motocrossers don't make good color analysts. Its not just RV. Never understood why they do that. RV is horrible but still better than RC hahaha.

Tell that to Bailey, RJ, Emig and KDUB. What races do you listen to? Wink

I know...it just sucks to hear him in the booth and not see him on the track!

I liked how he answered the question about Grant fading! Lmao. "He'll do well."

The way he recalled the mxon he was in was like listening to someone trying to remember a business trip they went on for work.

David Bailey. Your argument is invalid.

Exactly! The announcer had to refresh his memory...I was laughing...it was only the MXDN!

Yeah, Ill third that. RV is so over MX and his accomplishments that he cant even remember some of the more bigger/unique races.Unsure

Ill differ from the pack and say I liked RV in the booth. I just think that he needs to be let loose to speak his mind without reprisals. I think hes holding back.

I thought RV did great. He's not a pro announcer/color guy, and those guys PRACTICE and are given questions/topics ahead of time to prepare. He did a fine job, and I'd bet that if he wanted to and worked at it he'd be great at it. He's smart, knowledgeable, and humble behind the mic, and that makes a good guest. You KNOW he was pissed he wasn't out there today, and given some time away from the sport I think he'd KILL IT in the booth. (I am a former radio jock, so I do have some background)

He's retired why is he announcing the gp? Why is he going to the mxdn? Will he be announcing at the MEC? My point is he shouldn't be obligated since he is retired and it's well known he is over it all right at the moment. Maybe in a couple years he will be ready to return. Don't force him on the fans.

I'm curious to see how this retirement goes. Not in the aspect of him coming back to race as that is done but if he will have any involvement with the sport.

I was very surprised to hear him in the booth. I actually think he's very funny...but it's a different type of humor.

I hear you, but it's possible his Kawi contract stipulates he appear at each round plus MXON, racing or not, unless he's medically unable to do so.Also, it could be that since he's spent his whole career at Kawi he's "happy" to do them a solid and be their spokesperson till the end of the season. I think he's probably in a place now where he don't have to do anything he doesn't really want to.....

If he is still getting a check he kind of has to do what they want him to do. He would be smart to not burn the bridge too because Kawasaki has given him a lot of money over the years.

He may of retired from racing, but that does not mean he still does not have a contract and obligations to fullfill. He retired from racing I am sure he is not just going to walk away from a big as pay check when all he has to do is rock up to a few events in some cool locations and talk a little!

I thought he was good too.

I love Osbourne on podcasts but thought he was particularly flat yesterday. That might have lowered the curve for RV.

He did fine. I think that is just his style but I will say as a whole the coverage kinda stank. You can barely hear the bikes, they kept leaving that camera pointed into the sun lap after lap and it was like sitting in someones living room casually talking the sport with the race on in the background.

I believe Emig had a LOT of work to do when he first started. I enjoy listening to his commentary.

I doubt that RV WANTS to be there. And RV raced with these guys and is friends with many of them and then gets asked to be critical of the guys he was racing. I think he's humble enough to not rail on them so you just get the canned answers he provided. The comment about JG was a good example.

I think Josh Grant redeemed us from the embarrassment that was RV. RV should have raced Mexico and the USGP then retired after annihilating the field. I don't agree with how he left. I get that he is over it and it has had some heavy costs in his personal life and health. But it was just crazy how he left. People will hate on me for that comment but you can't deny that it was very disappointing how he left.

His results were fine and he was building up fast. So I was not disappointed in his performance.

He already said he wants to take a year or two to get away from the sport but he will definitely be involved he just needs a brake.. I think he is gonna have a mcgrath type career with kawasaki
