Its all relative. I went from a 2008 CRF450 (solid CRF platform) with Factory Connection suspension to the 2015.5 KTM 450 Factory Edition and the stock 4CS forks blow those forks away. The rest of the bike makes my CRF feel like a heavy vintage bike. The electric start is a dream if I screw up during a race. I start in gear and keep going. I change air filters without tools. Way I look at it is the KTM is the lightest bike, with easiest starting and easiest to work on. Until the small 4 start doing these things I will never go back.
given the 7 years difference its highly likely the Honda feels like a vintage bike, you expected it to be the same?

Great engine, shrouds remind me of Kim Kardashian's ass.....aka WIDE. Gave the whole bike a bulky feeling to me. Handling wise it was very neutral, I think my KTM 350 could turn under it. Very predictable and planted.

Just has a bit of a weird feeling to me, if it were me I would be buying a Kawi or KTM 250.

Took my yz250 out today probably for the last time before going into cold storage. Getting a 450 most likely a yz450f. My forearms were screaming even with the lightest touch. I can ride my buddies 2012 kx450 all day and not get arm pump or tired out

It came down to the KTM and the Kawi for me...and taking it even further it was really the fit'n finish that swayed me to the KTM. There is so much attention to detail everywhere on the bike where the Kawi seemed cheaply put together.

No I dont but the spy photos of the 2017 450 being raced in the japan nationals clearly show a larger cylinder head, but nothing about the 250 yet, hence my statement

It came down to the KTM and the Kawi for me...and taking it even further it was really the fit'n finish that swayed me to the KTM. There lies your problem. What year KTM's did you own ? I'd agree 100% about an older KTM though, no doubt !

The new KTM's are far superior in fit/ finish than they were back then...... The Kawasaki's and Suzuki's have never been known to have a great finished product. Honda and Yamaha seemed to me like they were always good though.

I was actually sold on a '15 Kawi because the ergos were great (I'm 6'3") and the power was really good. Then I decided to wait for the '16 and they changed the whole bike up, so I started shopping again. I've mostly had Honda's but the newer ones feel really small. It still feels wide with the cycra kit but definitely less so. My boots also hung up on the stock shrouds constantly and I've never had an issue with it on the cycra stuff. Plus it flows way more air which is cool. You can mod the stock airbox to flow about as much, but I'll spend the 100 bucks to save some time with the dremel

RMZs really do TURN. You can always pump up a motor. You can always get the suspension fixed...or if you have enough money...change it altogether. But you can not change chassis geometry and the the overall package. The RMZ has some weaknesses...but they are weaknesses that can be addressed. The best bike out of the box is not always the best platform to work with.

Yeah, but you can't really address the RMZ450's weight like you can with the suspension or motor, it isn't as simple. Good luck losing 13 lbs, and if the RMZ is BNG next year, good luck losing 16 lbs.
