Can they really hold another Mexican GP with embarrassingly small gates like that ? I think I've heard there's some kind of problem between the CMRC and the FIM but wouldn't a Canadian GP be a lot better ? Much better tracks and I bet you'd get a good local turnout of some worthy riders.

Look for the number 10 riding fir the HSF LOGISTICS KTM Team.

Great for South African supporters......
I met one of you fellow countryman here in Alabama at Monster Mountain about a month ago. We talked for like 45 minutes (while waiting on food) about motocross and politics of your fine country. He was from Atlanta, Ga. I cant remember his name but I enjoyed the conversation.

Wow. I think Tom dropped below 50 mph once or twice there.

Sweeping turn, flat straight and a massive tabletop...repeat with a few roller sections thrown in.

Not a world championship caliber track at all. Oh well, maybe it will make for "good racing" as they say.

I could have driven 3 hours to that race on pretty safe roads. i decided not to go. not enough riders of gp caliber on the gates and the track is super boring. a few friends were there last year and arent going back today. i even had hotel reservations and i cancelled them last week.

Too high speed for a good vet track but I like the uber high speed for a MXGP round to change things up. They could have gone the outdoor SX route with slower speeds and more jumps given how flat the terrain is. I'm glad they didn't.

I know you're a Luongo apologist but do you honestly think that track was worthy of a GP ? Also less than 20 riders on the gate is an embarrassment. I'm really happy for Covington getting the win though.

Yes I think that track was worthy of a GP and someone with more experience than both of us combined agrees with me. Shaun Simpson who has been pretty outspoken as in critical at times on track preparation had this to say at day's end about the Leon circuit:

"The track in the second moto was how every Grand Prix track should be. There were a lot of lines to pass and I didn't feel stressed."

Is Simpson now a Longo apologist by your standards because we agree on the track? I also share his opinion that tracks need to be changed and not just power reduction/displacement lowering.

BTW calling out Park Boys on his childish "Luongo will bump the GH MXdN to keep the US from winning" post doesn't make me an Luongo apologist just means I call BS when I read something as ludicrous as that comment. You can criticize Luongo, YS, the FIM, the AMA, MXA, me and even my cat etc all you want just please don't make stupid stuff up to do it.

EDIT: Last two races (17 and 18) being in North America as you point out definitely hammers on gate count. Smaller teams don't have much incentive to attend if they don't have a shot in the championship.

Question for you: What did you think of the Assen MXGP attendance and sand course they brought in?

I thought Assen was a good event . I liked the track for the most part. They're actually lucky the Mexican track got muddy in my opinion or it would have just been a freeway with a few easy jumps for those guys.

Anyone else notice the 2013 (or older) YZ 250f out there? It was the older style Yamaha. Just weird to see at the highest level in MX!
