I politely asked 2 times for an autograph and was told no. I didnt approach his motor home, I stayed 30' away and said thank you after he said no. I asked the second time and did the same then. I'm sure he's a great guy but coming on here and making big deal out of this and also tweeting Dungey about it are just bad form. I would have explained to my son that maybe Ryan was having a tough day at the office (whether I was pissed or not) and chalked it up. It would actually be a good opportunity to teach your kid that athletes are just people and not role models, gods or anything special other than they can play a sport or race a bike really well. Leave the negative stuff in the rear view mirror and move forward.

I'd look for a new a friend if I were you. A guy who entertains himself by posting on a message board(or three) how a popular pro rider didnt stop what they are doing to entertain them is of questionable character and really calls into question their sanity.

Well i believe you that he's probably a great dude. Everyone has their hissy fits every once in a while. Just think it's a low blow to be calling someone like RD out on something like this. Im bummed for his son for sure and think it's awesome the kid won his race. But on the other hand....how many other people don't get the chance to get an autograph and then get the urge to go onto message boards and other media outlets and complained about it? Good guy or not , kind in bad taste. At least it seems that way to me.

This thread is creeping me out, it appears that we have a man that lives vicariously through his five year old son or that he exploits his son for access to professional motocrossers?! My God, he goes to their RV in search of an autograph?! This year I was at High Point, great racing, but I didn't stalk any professional motocrossers. I have been to Red Bud twice over the years and have seen some of the best racing ever, isn't that what it is about?

I don't get this autograph thing?! I live in Clermont, FL. At least once a week I see Dungey, Anderson, MM, AC and Aldon Baker ride by home. I see them when I'm out running in the morning while they are training on their bikes. I never think of asking for an autograph. I respect their ability to ride and race a motocross bike, I don't know enough about them to look at them as heroes, just baddass dudes on motorcycles. I guess if I want to participate in hero worship it will be a Marine, soldier, sailor or airmen serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, real heroes.

A couple of weeks ago I saw KR at Chick-Fila in Clermont, I didn't ask for an autograph. I noticed it was KR and went about my business, though with a comment to myself that he is one of the best motocrossers in the world.

These guys are paid to race and presumably win races. I want to stand witness to a great talent when I go to the race, a signature on a trophy or poster doesn't do shit for me. But if it did, I know from being at the races they have designated times and locations (not their RV) for said autographs and photo opportunities.

I don't care if the OP saves puppies and kittens, helps old ladies across the road and feeds the homeless, he is wrong here and his behavior is ridiculous on every level.

The OP should consider himself very fortunate that he can afford tickets, VIP access and a weekend of amateur racing. For a family of four, that is some coin. His kid won!! That alone should have been all he needed for an amazing trip.

I hate to say this , but they owe you absolutely jack shit. This was a rare occasion for RD , as seen a million times before. He didn't have times because it sounded like he was in a hurry. Didn't have time for that one kid , it sucks , but guess what , there were plenty of other kids that didn't get one either.

You know how many times Jeremy McGrath, doug Henry, Jeff emig, john dowd, and Kevin Windham signed things for me when I was 9 and 10 years old? I can't even remember but at 30 years old I still have them all somewhere.
