DC for God sake, you were a racer. Don't build an obstacle like this. Its ridiculous. Stop trying to appeal to the f'ing drunks and people with 5 second attention spans. and build a track for the racers.
You take your old ass out there and jump that thing every lap for 30 minuets knowing if you don't you will get passed.
Don't give me this crap of "They can decide to do it or not" DONT BUILD it and they don't have to decide.
HEY, AMA how about to step up and protect the riders.
Kids dying in this sport way to often for the top level to take such an irresponsible stance.

Can you people that are complaining about this jump (and the other big jumps) tell me how big the jump was that ended ET3's season?
Looks to me like him catching his left foot on a rut caused the whole thing.
Toesmack didn't get hurt on that so it must be OK.
And motorcycle racing is dangerous. Jumps are dangerous. Corners are dangerous. Straights are dangerous. Sucks that this kid got hurt...and it sucks when anybody gets hurt. But the only way to eliminate all the dangers, would be to leave the bikes on the stands.
I did not realize my post would be scrutinized by the grammar and or punctuation police. I will try to do better.
Second, it sounds like his grip came off at the worst possible time and caused the crash. That jump was fine and did not cause the crash. One of the WMX riders was hitting it on Friday even. The jump was made to allow multiple places to land and if you were short , you were still fine.

I'd be willing to bet that more people have been hurt this season on 'non-jumps' than they have on jumps. Let's eliminate all those stupid and unnecessary corners and bumps....
And yes, I feel it is stupid and unnecessary because I am looking at it from the racers point of view. If no one in the AMA or MX Sports groups want to try to protect them then I have no problem doing it.
I sure hope the kid comes back stronger then ever.
And?
And............so what ?! Back in the day the triple behind the start was the big one. Now every 1/4 lap there's a big one. But why ? As RC says "Jump for show corner for dough".
Don't they jump enough 16 rounds a year in supercross??????
Was he running ODI lock on grips? Just wondering.....
Pit Row
The bikes power and suspension allow for 150 foot jumps to be made. The gear technology, and the human body do not absorb hits from 50 mph and 120 foot impacts. I've said it a million times, and will say it a million more. The human body can only absorb so much impact. So we are grateful he is walking (hopefully normally again), and not dead.
CK1racerX raced at that highest level in the past. I would take his opinion over the guy watching TV or drunk saying "dude that was crazy" watching for the Carnegie. I watch for the racing, and HUGE leaps don't improve racing.
We are making lap times shorter for TV purposes, and making jumps bigger for the "cool" factor. Pretty soon they will make it like the X games and add a metal ramp in there too. .
The difference being that Eli's happened on the edge of control going downhill through breaking bumps and his rear wheel missed a bump, causing him to swap. If Brock could go down a hill that fast he would be winning races.
Brock lost control on what is usually a part of any track where a rider feels MOST in control, before a jump. He was flailing through the air for 2-3 seconds hoping not to land on his neck and have his lights go out for good. I'd rather swap on a downhill any day of the week.
Big difference, similar results... this time.
3 second break in the air to re-group, magazine cover shots of scrubs & whips, & for the riders to stylishly pull tear offs for, on
live TV...
I went to Malvern MX about a month ago, first time since I raced there about 92... Track layout pretty much the same, some
larger jumps... The best part is watching a kid running about 10th in "C" class doing whips...
Him whipping to 10 place doesn't bother me, he's having fun & I think it's pretty damn funny. Looked like mom was shooting
video of him, the kid's staying out of trouble... The funny part for me is the whips will be on Utube but the race results won't be
That grip coming off sucks, glad the kids going to be ok...
Remember when JS7 launched himself off that downhill at high point I think in like 07 or 08 and balled himself up!
Larocco's leap is bigger then that booter at high point
There are some jumps that could be questioned but the riders enjoy sending it.. The fact that they are willing to do anything to gain an extra position should be questioned..
That big single before that rhythm section at freestone that bagget was hucking wasn't meant for some one to hit it like that!
sorry for the lack of photo credits, I just found these quickly off google images.
