Ever check out Tony's Instagram on a Thursday? They love throw back Thursday. Maybe psychologically that has held Mike Alessi back.

I like seeing Jeremy Martin running the #1, instead of a career number. But I do remember before career numbers were allowed it was very confusing for the first few races of the year here in the states to figure out who was who. I used to go to the Orlando opener every year for supercross when it was on the schedule. Drinking quite a few beers and all the riders with new numbers can be very confusing to say the least. Good times!!!

Yes I'm sure it was the number that messed him up mentally and had nothing what so ever to do with tony.

He earned the #2 while racing the Canadian nationals last year. Since they assign numbers based on how you finished the pervious year and he finished 2nd, he must run the #2. If it was up to him he would still run the #800, and he will continue to do so in the U.S..

Edit: Didn't realize EK298 already explained this, lol.

I think you mis-understand what I am saying, but if all you can comprehend from that is the number alone is the issue, then that is alright, to each their own. There are many things, hell he was off to a great start to win the outdoors before wrecking his knee at one point.

That said, MENTALLY, there is something to say about keeping an amateur number instead of starting anew. With the drama that has surrounded them, it could have been a good thing to start fresh in AMA with a new number, mentally get to a new place with the past behind him.

Just curious - what are your qualifications for making an assessment on a rider's psyche based on the numbers on his bike and jersey?

Bad like really bad. Regardless of how people feel about the family we all know Mike can ride and his GP results didnt show that at all. Im sure just showing up over there and trying to basically guess a bike setup for each track played a pretty big part in it.

ma800 is no more. Maybe he's injured? Probably embarrassed to see the speed associated with that number vanish.

Mike needs to get in shape/racing form before he breaks out #800 again. Hope he fixes the issues and comes back swinging.. He's the fastest rider to have ever raced the the Canadian Nationals by far(However, a bit unlucky).
