Funny how Basher mentions they get a lot of grief over their gearing recommendations. He must lurk.Laughing

They get dogged about that probably more than anything. The pin-up poster girl crowd could learn a thing or two from the old guys on bike setup.

The best damn mag out there. The best day of the month is the day I pick up the new MXA mag. If you want honest bike tests,no bs reviews, read it. Racer X reminds me of the national enquirer, Dirt Rider, wtf is that,Dirt Bike needs Super Hunky back, just my opinion.

Without any mention of a "stinkbug" handling characteristic I don't think I can take it very seriously.

Their bike tests suck. It's usually nothing more that a list of specs and parts followed a few sentences of how the bike actually performs on the track. Jody must have about 3 templates that he uses for bike tests and just plugs the name of the bike in where appropriate.

Read their 2015 450 shootout and then read Vital MX's. It isn't even close if you're someone trying to get info on buying a new bike.

I actual trust MXA over most magazines. The MXA shares strengths and weaknesses of each bike - and simple mods to improve the bike. They do not sound like an extension of the manufacturers marketing department. Like any critic -- its an claim. Fact backing up a claim is hell of a lot better than shooting from the hip.

MXA is the only one for bike info and testing with one caveat. Dirt Bike is great for those venturing off the MX tracks.

My two favorites for sure. Sweet 150 for sure though.

For sure, MXA has contributed more good bike content than everyone else combined.

Down 1 on the front, up 2 on the rear. Then do third gears starts.

Pro Circuit Action, they rule SoCal.

I love when they cut/paste over last year's test for a bike and accidentally leave some old info. Very confidence inspiring.

I bought a 02 kdx200 from a guy that added five teeth to the rear and removed the chain guide slider to make room for it Smile First gear was so low it almost made the bike time travel into the past it went so slow.

If you ever question Motocross Action's savvy in building a race bike consider this:

John Basher recently did a custom build on a YZ125 and admits that he spent 6K in upgrades. 6 FUCKING GRAND.

Guess what? The bike still has a stock motor (sans reed cage and pipe) and completely stock suspension as well. WTF are you wasting your $ on John?

Billet curb-feelers? A fairing? Possibly a backrest or something? Maybe road pegs like a Harley? Engine covers? A 3 pound shark fin for the rear brake?

Maybe a billet Hinson clutch to handle the massive HP output of the STOCK motor? Really?

I think any savvy racer will agree that if you have 6K burning a hole in your pocket, the FIRST place you would spend it would be on the motor and suspension? Especially on a 125! Am I crazy or are these bike builds just another advertising attempt/sponsor plug gimmick?

I've seen that too.. They do a good job with shootouts, when they actually have 5 bikes and are comparing them back-to-back they are subjective and fair.. Their single bike tests? Most of them are not worth reading, complete crap. It's as if they didn't really even ride the bike, attempt to set it up, or just put 0 effort into translating it onto paper.

Then they do dyno comparisons where the bikes were run months apart and act as if that data is worth anything.
