For such a brilliant rider, sometimes I feel his achievements go under the radar.

I put down some thoughts on why that might be here

You guys are missing the true reasoning behind McCreads attempts here. I dig some of his posts , but others are like a Geofff JR. This is a trick question in case you haven't figured it out.

no..he gets all the credit he deserves..no one is saying he doesnt earn titles..but most will agree that he earns titles when no one is there to challenge him.

I don't think Dungey's line of credit is any of our business. I do however know that his FICO score is 854.

These silly threads remind of when ESPN calls a Football Player like Russell Wilson underrated. The fact that you're now calling him underrated has now made him overrated. It's a catch 22.

I agree that he is underappreciated, but your article (which is good btw) contains your answer. It is BECAUSE he is willing to back it down and seemingly be okay with losing a title in exchange for not crashing. Guys like Carmicheal, RV, and Roczen do not consider losing a title okay. Dungey is okay with it, relative to his competitors. RC and RV would rather crash their brains out than lose a title straight up, and that "2nd place is completely unacceptable" mindset appeals to the fans far more than a rider who is going to go 99% and stay there no matter what happens. That is Dungey's perogative, he makes millions, his fitness is likely to be superior to everyone on the gate, and his work during the week speaks for itself. It is entirely his right to decide how far he is willing to push in order to win, but that approach will never have the raw appeal of RC or RV riding at or just past their limit because they absolutely HATE losing, on a level most probably can't comprehend. It seems like Dungey loves winning just as much, but doesn't hate losing quite as much. Just my 2 cents. And this isn't at all a value judgement about his approach to racing, just objective observation.

Dungey is living proof that it is possible to luck into four 450 professional championships. He's obviously the worst of the best.

It's crazy how few times that RC actually crashed while pushing it so hard! And he almost always seemed to get away without serious injury too. I watched him crash at Washougal in 06 and I think he did one bounce and was back up and running after his bike. Guys like him and James were amazing to see in action.

I think Dungey is just too nice of a guy to want to smash and destroy the completion like RC! He seems to be quite happy just smoothly beating them

I think the author's points are spot on and it's a fairly well written piece worth reading. Perhaps Dungey fans are speaking out more because it's about time he gets the credit he deserves for being an incredible champion. He's lived under the shadow of RV since 2011, and now that RV is gone and Aldon is in the picture, Dungey has come into his own. Has any other rider won two supercross titles with a five season gap between them? If I want my kids to emulate a rider, it's going to be guys like Everts, Cairoli, and Dungey.

Dungey is mature for his age, He's going to be in the Hall of Fame... Doesn't take unnecessary chances, If Roger's health
stays good, Roger may retire when Dungey does... I could see Dungey staying with KTM till Roger retires... Wouldn't be
surprised to see Dungey then become Team Manager...

Dungey causes zero shit storms... That being said, I hope Dungey gets some 4th's & 5th's to tighten up the points battle...

Those that are truly in love with Ryan, here's a photo from LL's with his shirt off, maybe you can talk to Simon Cudby & get
a copy to have it framed...

LMAO...
