With Eli hurt and no contract inked yet with Kawasaki I reckon they (kawa) will get RV to a SX only deal as it's highly unlikely Eli will be ready in time for A1.
RV can go for a last Championship AKA farewell tour in front of his fans whilst Eli gets back into shape whilst testing and preparing for the 2016 outdoors.
Just my thoughts on the best way forward for Kawasaki, Eli and RV.

As for Villlopoto racing SX only. I don't think it'll happen. He wanted something new which is why he went to MXGP. He said this was his last year. If he happens to race again next year, it'll be MXGP again since he now knows what to expect and can make a full season of it.

Should Eli attempt to contest SX they risk putting the outdoors in jeopardy too.
Eli's injury changes the whole scope of 2016 and possibly even the deal with Kawasaki. Will they pay him bike money to sit out SX and test outdoors instead?
RV for SX only and Eli taking over when the outdoors start is the best way forward. Will RV do it??? I think the size of the cheque Kawasaki is prepared to write can change RV mind about his plans for 2016.
I expressed my thoughts on the situation Kawasaki now find themselves in. Recovery for Tomac's injury is a 6 month deal and they will not push the envelope trying to bring him back prematurely. Nothing will be gained and too much stands to be lost.
Sure going to be interesting to see how this plays out. There could be a whole new twist to the upcoming Silly Season.
So I doubt RV figures in their SX plans.
The contract really is most likely already signed and a done deal. The injury will have little to no bearing on that.

Kawasaki would be stupid not to wait fit Tomac no matter what rider takes his place during his recovery, he's once in a generation rider.

Let's see, I'm sure it's on his mind right now. Let's just see. What a comeback story this would be... nothing like this situation has ever happened in the sport, so there a highly unique nature about this that would create major excitement, with less pressure than he's had in years past. It would be cool.
Take RV's salary for the year. What % do you think Kawasaki pays? 10% - 90%?
So how much influence do you think Kawasaki has on RV's career?
If all goes well with his surgery he should get on the Kawasaki a month before the season starts. Will that be enough time? He needs to test, get the bike dialed in and at the same time get back into racing shspe. He will enter the series on his back foot and its a financial risk for Kawasaki and a risk for himself.
The above is pure speculation and a topic of conversation.
Now factor RV in. He cant be enjoying himself at the moment. Starting fresh, learning new tracks, always on the move from country to country. Different diets...trying to figure out how to run with the top GP riders. I thought it would have been easy for him and im sure he never expected the level to be so high.
So for him to admit defeat in the GPs and bow out with a last SX tour (whilst Tomac recovers and tests for 2016 outdoors) makes perfect sense to me for both him and Kawasaki.
Will he consider it should Kawasaki ask and wish to pay his fee ( whilst paying Tomac) remains to be seen.
It would sure be nice to see him, Dungey and Stewart have one last season together.
Pipe dream? Yes.....but we have seen stranger things happen before.
I have BREAKING NEWS. RV wants to retire! Let the poor dude retire.
Just wondering why your SO stuck on the subject? Re-read your ( many ) posts, you just repeat yourself in every post.
There is a much bigger reason RV never stuck around to make it 5 in a row in SX. I think it's pretty obvious he will not race SX again.
