*This isn't exactly moto related but involves somebody who used to ride. Move to non-moto if needed*
Hey guys, I'm sure most of you have heard about the half mile-wide EF4 (180-200mph wind) tornado that leveled the small town of Fairdale, Illinois on Thursday. As the crow flies, I live about two and a half miles from that town and I watched the tornado go by from my front porch, and all I can say is wow. Gnarliest thing I've ever witnesses. Anyhow, the town needs some help getting back on its feet. For those feeling generous, THIS GOFUNDME PAGE has been set up to assist in helping victims of this storm. Alpine Bank, the local bank in Kirkland (my hometown) is covering all GoFundMe fees so every penny of donations goes to the victims. Any help is hugely appreciated!!
The picture I got of the tornado:

The following is a story my dad heard from a friend's mother this morning. Read if you wish, it's pretty gnarly.
This morning while at the school getting ready to get bused to Fairdale to help with the cleanup, my dad ran into the mother of a kid I used to go to high school with (he rode at my house all the time when we were little and he's an awesome kid) and they live on Route 72 in Fairdale, though the house is roughly 200 feet from the road surface itself. When the tornado was approaching, the mother, the kid my age, and her younger son, who is 7 or 8 years old, were huddled up in the bathtub to take cover, since they don't have a basement. From what the mom said, she heard a loud noise, then saw the house starting to go away around them. The loud noise got even louder and the next thing she said she could remember was sitting on the ground looking at something yellow, which was odd because they didn't have any yellow flooring in their house. She and the youngest son had ended up on Route 72 in the middle of the road, and the older son was on the other side of 72 somewhere. Thankfully, none of them had serious injuries (none of them broke any bones), although the older son was extremely banged up. Some really gnarly stuff. I still can't believe I saw it so close, and for awhile the way it was coming towards us I thought we were done. It was headed right for my house from what I could see.

Hope everyone made it out ok. Were there any casualties? That's crazy that all three of them made it through after being carried away!!
72 was blocked off by police about 200 yards from the destruction and what I saw was amazing and something I never want to encounter.
Glad you are ok, that would be hard to watch and not run from.

I am up near Gurnee, and our sirens went off but the storm wasn't as bad by the time it reached us.
On the radio this morning, they were saying personal effects from the homes destroyed were found as far away as 100 miles, up in Kenosha!
Tragic indeed, best wishes to everyone up there.
Glad the family was ok!
