Hey chaps,

since we're on the topic of trucks, I just got a new rig, a 4x2 hilux on dual fuel. LPG can in the tub. Has anyone got any idea if you could still butt the front wheel of a bike up against the cylinder or am I definitely relocating the cylinder under the tub?

I have a falcon ute with an LPG cylinder in the tray and the bike sits up against the tank just fine. I wish it wasn't there though so I could carry the bike with the tailgate up, the tank takes up a lot of room... So yes I would say it is just fine to butt the bike up against the tank but if you can relocate it I would recommend doing so.

Cheers bud! There is actually some drawers in the back which I've sold, getting picked up this sat, so after that will measure up and see what to do... Not sure if the bike will fit, even tailgate down with the cylinder in the back... Spoke to a gas guy yesterday, he wanted 500 bucks to relocate, bloody hell, didn't think it'd cost that much! Will shop around and see what I can do...

Gets great mileage on the LPG, 550 kays to one tank thus far, must be close, and it gets along great. Stoked! The cylinder I think is 55litres?

Hows your Falcon go on it? And is there any cage/bracing on the cylinder or just the floor mounts?

hvaughn, haha... How's your Aussie mate?
My Falcon has 330000 on her now so she goes a bit rough haha. That said she took me, a mate and both our bikes from Perth to Brisbane and back again over Christmas and the LPG was a godsend - saved us a fortune. Pretty sure the falcon would have a longer tray the hilux so you might struggle to get the bike in :/ Maybe diagonally would work?

The Holden Utes can be bought here in the states. This place in Colorado brings them in in pieces and creates a left hand drive version here in the states.

My son had a Pontiac GTO that was a Holden car. Had the Vette V-8 with the six speed manual. It was really a nicely built car but parts were expensive.

Thanks for that link. I had no idea that was being done. I'm an Aussie living over here now so that gets ideas going in my head lol. Maybe I'll import my own one day as a project or something or just buy one of theirs if I have a mid life crisis lol.

No thanks. Don't like em i'd prefer a normal height truck don't want my truck scrapping the dirt roads around here. A little lowered i can tolerate but all the way to the ground, why? It one of the things i dont understand that people do to there truck. Side note: I also hate 454s on 28 low profilesSick but oh well to each their own not going to bash on you guys..too much Wink

Very nice. I wouldn't drive anything that's not an extra cab, but cool looking truck either way.

Thanks for your input---which is worthless to the thread, but I'm sure you feel better having spoken in front of the class. Now, run along.....

Mine's a weekend thing just for fun really, personally, like so many outsiders I don't understand the whole thing of why so many people over there drive huge SUV's and trucks mainly to the mall or school and back but yes it's each to their own indeed Wink

(btw so many traffic lights but no roundabouts too Blink )

Those ute's are pretty cool. Here's my neighbors blown small block Studebaker. It's ridiculously fast and handles like the 76 Camaro frame it's built upon. With less rear wheel traction of course.

I got a little work done on my F-100, so I figured I'd bump this old thread with pictures.

15 years ago I hauled my motorcycle in my 58 VW Single Cab bus! It was lowered with a 2076cc dual carb motor... It was way too fast with the drum brakes and worn out steering box and no seat belts. Dropping the side gates down made loading easier and the bed was bigger than my 2014 Tundra. The only problem was that every time I drive that damn thing you didn't know if you would actually reach your destination... So it was always an interesting adventure with it!
