"SELLERS BEWARE:
I posted my RMZ 450 for sale on craigslist and fb. A guy by the name of 'Greg Smith' contacted me from phone number 215-970-7802, said he lived in Cleveland and offered full asking price for my bike and he would pay $300 for me to deliver since he didn't have a truck and was working 7 days a week on nights.
Talked to this fella via txt and over the phone numerous times, he knew his stuff about bikes and asked all the right questions, so I assumed he was the real thing. So today I drove 5 hours to Cleveland to deliver the bike.
I get to the address he gave me and there he is, right on time. He immediately asks to take a test ride on the bike, I explained to him multiple times that I don't ever let anyone go for a test ride (let alone in the slums of Cleveland) without some sort of collateral or the $$.
He BEGGED me repeatedly, shook my hand and looked me dead in the eye and promised he wouldn't take off on the bike, he even told me that his grandmother was in the house watching to make sure I wasn't some sort of axe murderer.
After an hour of arguing I told him to put up or shut up and I was going to leave if he didn't come up with the money. He then proceeded to call me every name in the book, including a racist, darted into the alley and was gone.
While I was there his phone rang repeatedly and he just kept saying, 'yea he's here I'll see you in a minute.'
After he left I rang the doorbell and Greg's 'grandma' answered. She proceeded to tell me that she didn't even have kids or grandkids, know who that gentleman was, and that he is in fact a liar.
So I wasted 10 hours of my day and two tanks of gas, but hey, at least I still have a bike"
I would trust him as far as his circle of friends.
