If guys can get a big contract, and bow out of sx into their late 20's to avoid the potential career ending crash every lap of the sx season, and discover a longer and less frantic schedule, some may consider it.

guys grow up their whole lives dreaming of topping the box in sx or mx.
to alter that dream and shoot to europe to conquer something that young mx racers don't even really think about is a long shot.
i have to imagine that there is definitely some pull from the top of FIM to get another superstar over there as soon as possible though---they've got to be ecstatic that americans are really watching it this year.
RV was over putting in the work and going on the grind of SX/MX. I'm not sure he looked at the GP's as much of a challenge as just something to try and see what happens. IMO if he was going to MXGP to win and no other result was acceptable, he would've been in Aldon's training camp in November. Not saying he's out of shape, I just don't think he was gonna go the same route as when he raced in the states that made him an animal.
Pit Row
The other reason is the schedule. Some riders will do really well racing nearly 29 weeks in a row and some may burn out.
I think there are now two legitimate options, for those who do switch, this would not be a one year gig but a career crossroads.
Maybe now young US riders will grow up wanting to be World Champion as well as SX and MX champ in the US. Especially when you have your whole country behind you wanting you to win for the USA against the world - it can't get better than that surely.
That's what GP racing is all about and maybe now the US fans and riders alike are understanding that.
But it will take equal exposure on the GPs in the US media for that to happen to in the long term.
But if Chad did decide to do the World Championship he would have four months instead of 2 weeks to get ready for motocross again. That would make a big difference and with his talent and experience of GPs, while I'm I don't think he would win a title, he should be decent. It was only two years ago he was leading the AMA and he has never been healthy since for outdoors.
Last year was the first year I was able to watch on the boob tube and really dig how they open the show by showing the location on the global map and local cultures and scenery. Very cool.
My hope is other riders interest level goes up and they too carry the flag across the pond to represent.
Major props and a tip of the visor go to RV and his HUGE commitment while still in the peak of his career.
I would not count the guy out just yet. When he puts his mind to it he is still a bad dude.
I also wonder if Decoster has any inclination to head back to Belgium after he's done. Be kinda cool to see him back involved in a MXGP effort even if in a limited fashion. Be kinda like going full circle for him in his career.
What would be cool to see is if a manufacturer like Honda put together a contract together for Tomac to race 2-4 years more in the US, and then at least 1 year in the MXGP's on a red bike.
