Addiction truly hits home, I have had family battle it and it is insane to watch. One day you are watching a meth head on cops and wondering how someone could ever do that to themselves, and the next day you get a call you have to go pick up a relative from county because of drug possession.
I will say one thing though, the person has to WANT to quit. There is no forcing rehab. Even if you do force someone into it, and they complete the rehab with flying colors, it wont be long until they are back to their old way because they don't believe that they have a problem.
I truly hope that Nico gets his life together, because the only thing worse than doing drugs is coming off them and realizing you through your life away. Time is something we cant get back, and his window to change is rapidly closing.
On a side note, I just noticed your location and I think my cousin used to write for y'all's newspaper a year or two ago. Not important, I know, just thought it was one of those "small world" deals haha
When I was young I used to think guys that could ride like Nico were gods when in fact they are just normal humans that have problems like we all do. Blame it on injuries or whatever you want but there is a good chance guys like that would become addicts no matter what they were doing for a living.
Best of luck to you YZKen
Man,i figured for sure to be a drug dog. I saw the deal out front near will call .
Eh,we kill ourselves other ways than a bomb.
In 04ish before they stopped the internet ordering it was wide open.. 40 or 50 a day was many day, always 20 at least. Of lortab 10mg.
Quit, shit, puke, shake, sweat. It is hell. Back to endless pain, start again,on and on.
Ive had friends that turned to slamming that stuff and they never came back, not one,all dead or in jail.
Hard row to hoe.
Bad times.
I lost my wife's younger brother(badass go kart racer as a kid) to overdose 4 years ago, and he's not the only one. I have been clean for almost 8 yrs now.
Best advice that I can give is to do something to fill that adrenaline void. If you ever stop riding moto, ride a mountain bike, road bike, run, play guitar, lift weights, anything to get those endorphins going.
There are people who participate in these same things and never develope habits of any kind. They should feel great about the choices that they have made and people that have surrounded them. Some are not so fortunate. I am sorry for the very long post, but this kinda hits home for me and it took me years to come to some of these realizations so maybe it will help someone who is still in the "fog" of addiction or might God forbid, encounter it in the future.
Frankly, the pain of withdrawal isn't that big of a deal imo. It's like a bad flu and being sore all over from a really hard workout for like 2 weeks. If you have shattered bones, or dislocated limbs, you've experienced worse peak pain for sure.
I don't believe the pain of withdrawal is what keeps people hooked. Obviously there is an emotional addiction that is way more powerful.
Pit Row
As the days continue to pass I cant help but notice how parallel Nico's career is becoming to Ben Riddle's...
Both Suzuki's number one amateur, both the topic prospect in the county, countless Loretta titles, factory Suzuki contract with a shit ton of money at 16-17, both seem to have a decent amount of injuries in the early stages of their careers, and now both have turned to pills or harder drugs. Both have literally thrown away their God given talent for a stupid fucking high which has landed both of them in jail.....
The list goes on and on. I just cant help but feel that I am watching history repeat itself before my very eyes.

When I got hurt no one really even called me to see how I was doing. Roger DeCoster never called to see how I was doing. I mean, I know I wasn’t out there winning every race, but I did get five podiums in a row. I just think everyone should be treated the same and I never even just got a phone call to check up on me. Even the next day after Jacksonville: nothing. I had to call Roger and say, “Hey, how’s it going? I am actually laying in the hospital right now, did you know that?” And he said, “Oh, yeah. How is everything going?” And I just said, “Oh, it’s going great! Thanks!”
Recently I got "teeter" inversion table. It has completely changed my life. All of that compaction, Burning and swelling from the sciatic all the way down the leg has gone into complete remission. It's helped everything from my ankles all the way up. Even my brother that only has minor pain is up here at least once a week for a 20 minute hang, Says it gives him full relief!
